I just cannot bring myself to buy an MPC. I got sick to death of hearing that EVERYONE uses one. I'd seriously rather use my laptop/ableton and then like a Rave-o-lution for drums and then my JP-8000 sequenced for leads. How do laptop DJ's connect a mixer/effects processor to their laptops to fade ...

Philosophies can differ. At this point in time I went a drumming route that I've seen few other (live) techno artists elect to take, and that is to say rather than worrying about sampling this or that drum machine, or having a drum machine that had "X" sounds right out the box, I took just creating ...

First....is it just me...or has the forum been revamped? Second, and I hope this isn't viewed as questioning a mod and worthy of an immediate ban, but I think the 1 strike and you're out thing might be a bit harsh. Only reason I say that is well, due to various personalities, I could easily imagine ...

I know the formant waves on the FS1R have a little more to them but I've read its really a hit and miss affair with the formant sequencing which should have been developed a lot more. You do get 30+ waves on the FM7 (some of which are formant) whilst not quite the same do give you a scope beyond an...

-> FM8 <- And that's coming from someone who has a DX7, FS1r and SY77 .. :P Why? (in a nutshell) * once you've worked with a matrix for operator routing, you don't want to go back to 'ordinary' pre-fab algos, in which you must think in advance which "future-proof" algo to choose. * FS/DX has 1 feed...

From if it's sheer sonic capability you're looking at, not much is going to touch the FS1R. However, at the same time, even when using an editior, you'll have a much easier time programming FM8. Capability wise, you have a pretty wide assortment of things, but like I said, you'll be hard pressed to ...

The guy you are calling a retard is someone who has put in alot of time and effort in genres of music that utilize synths. To me, the guy has earned the right, over 99.9% of the people in the world, to be a collector. i couldnt agree more i mean everyone is dissing this guy like they`re is a band o...

There are more reasons to own synthesizers than just functional capability. If functional capability were the only reason to own synthesizers, then hardware would probably vanish, and you'd be left with software, and everyone would be happy. I'm with you fully. And actually, in regard to the former...

[quote] I totally disagree. I would rather have several simpler synths that each have their own character and slightly different set of features than one supersynth. What if the sound or aesthetic of said supersynth just doesn't do it for you? And by aesthetic I don't mean just looks but the interfa...
