Re: anyone with a MFB-503 or mfb-502 ?
Yeah, it certainly is easier...the 503. I didn't get one because I ended up getting the Jomox 888 instead...but that's alot more cash. The Parameter locks and sample function on the 888 put it over the top for me... what do you mean by parameter locks? You can recall the exact knob positions (like ...

The Oakley Sound Systems TM3030 TB clone Review
The Synth So I have been mulling over a 3030 for as long as I have been into the DIY synth thing and with the recent retirement of the original and the advent of the TM3030, I decided to get rid of my x0xb0x and replace it with a pair of these in a 1u rack. The boards themselves were 35 UKP ($67) w...

Sound generator. There is nothing really there sequencer wise and having access to all the sounds without using the button combos is a big plusnovielo wrote:

Re: anyone with a MFB-503 or mfb-502 ?
I have a 502, sound wise it is very lo fi analog (early drum machines) and the sequencer is rather quirky since it has 8 buttons. Almost everything has multiple functions so there is a lot stuff to remember. I personally like it but if you are looking for a "main" drum machine, get the 503

Re: Where can i get Curtis filters from?
The old chips should not be too difficult to manufacture. Dave Smith knows this because his chips are new! Yes, they are. You are talking about hundreds of thousands of dollars for a modern fab to do something like that. We just had a very basic ASIC (mixed signal) quoted and it was $300,000 for to...

Re: MATRIX 6R MIDI CONTROL/SYSTEM EX
I would simply assign the cutoff to one of the assignable CC controls (IIRC there a 4 total). The 6r/M1000 have nightmarish sysex implementations and the assignable controllers were the only way I could effectively do what you are trying to do. Sending the M1000 note data and sysex data crashed the ...

Re: Where can i get Curtis filters from?
I just wonder, do we even have the diagrams for those chips anymore? I seem to remember that the diagrams have been lost on some SSM circuits, making them very hard to reengineer. Second, as these chips are usually analog, they are really just miniaturized analog boards. With the diagram at hand, m...

Re: Where can i get Curtis filters from?
I'm thinking about building a midibox like this. Does anyone know where I can get low pass curtis filters to go in it? I hope you realize what is involved to do that. the MB6582 does not have discrete filter chips, everything is on the SID chips. To add CEM's you will need a CV board not to mention...

Re: Acidlab Bassline
Woho. I started working on the Oakley TM3030 today. God I'm sick of resistors. There's a shitload of them. I'll post some in progress pictures tomorrow. Any ideas on what I should use as enclosure? And what type of knobs? I want big a*s knobs. How about LEDs? I want big a*s LEDs. I just finished mi...

Did you switch the "sys function unavail" (or something like that) setting to "available"? That has to be ON in order for the DX7 to receive sysex. Gilles *corrected* Selecting the Receiving Channel While the unit is in the function mode, pressing 8 will produce the display shown in the figure. The...
