Re: Need a Hardware MIDI Sequencer, Looking at the Yamaha RMX-1
You might be able to track down an MV-8000 for less than the 8800, but the RS is definitely a good option. If you didn't need sampling the command stations are good as well, and you can do a lot with the synthesis on those.

Re: Mackie 1402 Mixer
Thanks, I mean that's kind of what I expect from a cheap mixer tbh. A little noise isn't necessarily bad from my point of view either, as long as it has some 'character' or something. Most of my sources are line level so I wouldn't have to be pushing the gains too much if I balance right, which I do...

Re: Mackie 1402 Mixer
Some good stuff in this thread. I'm trying to decide on a new mixer or mixer / audio interface combination at the moment. Right now I run synths direct into an E-MU 1616 (currently 8 inputs), but I want more ins and a hands on mixer. Maybe I should start a new thread - but I have been looking at som...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld... The Little Wonder Synth of The Decade!
What the h**l is wrong with the mono mode? It starts making noises (when stopped) like theres an LFO and noise in the filter and eventually flips out totally? Nothing helps save for a reboot. Using Cubase 5 if that matters. This is related to using glide / and/or the arp with monophonic patches. It...

Re: Evolver wavetable creation
So let's say you wanted to create a tone with a synth whereby one cycle would be exactly 128 samples at 44.1KHz, what frequency would that tone have to be at? 1 second = 44100 samples. 44100 / 128 = 344.53125 So my hasty calculation suggests 344.53125Hz. OK that's a bit tricky to work with*. Let's s...

That does look nice.
Might need to add the clock divider but that pretty much covers it.

Re: David Vorhaus MANIAC
So kids, what (available) sequencers can do that kind of stuff?
MAQ16/3?*...what else?
* although I'm not sure it has the Timewarp Navigator.

Re: Stable free running LFOs with fine tuning
The Evolver / Mopho / Tetra LFOs go into the audible range and in semitone steps, so I guess they are quite 'stable', and fast.
You'd probably have a hard job finding modern digital LFOs that aren't extremely stable.

You'd almost think aphex twin sampled that acid squelching bit for didgeridoo wouldn't you.

Wow.
David Vorhaus was responsible for The White Noise with Delia Derbyshire amongst other things.
That sequencer looks fantastic.

That wasn't my understanding.Joey wrote:but no, the micro Q always has 25 voices. (or 75 if you expand it)
Polyphony on the Q is constant, but not on the micro AFAIK.

Re: cc automation lanes within ableton?(hardware synths)
Oh yeah I appreciate what you are saying about the stability of the MIDI clock from dedicated hardware vs. a computer. What I mean is that Live has to do a LOT more to sync to external clock than a hardware sequencer would and it's something that its never been very good at. I don't have 8 though so...
