Damn, really?

Come on Waldorf!

By the way, did you happen to notice if it was possible to go in and edit the individual parts while in multi mode?

Re: Convince me on the Monomachine, or not

Yes indeed, that's good to know. They always seemed like a really good option to me, and I can see that the E-MU synthesis is very powerful, it's obvious that you could do so much with that even with just a few basic waveforms let alone all the other junk they give you. Most users just seem to treat...

Re: Noob question: Micro Moog vs. Moog Rogue? ambient sounds?

It takes a momentary measurement of a signal and then 'holds' that amount for a set period of time before taking another 'sample'. No recording as such.

One common use is to feed a 'noise' signal into it so it takes a series of more or less 'random' snapshots at regular intervals.

Re: Convince me on the Monomachine, or not

What people are saying here has mostly reconfirmed my suspicions. I'm not 100% certain but I'm not at all turned off the idea either. I think I'll love the sequencer interface and no doubt those sounds will find their place. And I realise the tight integration is a big part of it. Alternatively I've...

Re: Sequencer timing issues

Might be worth optimising your Vista services a bit if you haven't looked into that already. There will be lots of stuff mucking around in the background. Have a look here: http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/servicecfg.htm And here: http://createdigitalmusic.com/2008/09/29/optimizing-for-vista-insid...

Convince me on the Monomachine, or not

I've been interested in the Monomachine since it came out. On paper it looks great and just the kind of thing I could really use. And yet somehow whenever I check out demos or sounds it just doesn't quite grab me. Some reasons why I have been considering it: - I need a new sequencer and this aspect ...

Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!

Indamixx also do a netbook based system which is much cheaper and actually more powerful. http://www.indamixx.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&product_id=3&flypage=shop.flypage&pop=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=57 Also have look at this perhaps, machines like the Lenovo S10 are capable of ru...

Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!

Although it's a sampler, with the jjOS replacement operating system for the MPC1000 you can also do basic audio track recording. I think it ticks most of your boxes, although it's not easily run off batteries. In answer your to questions: yes you can edit samples, sequence MIDI, it's pretty intuitiv...

Re: New kid on the block (chimera new bc16 synth)

I don't have any vested interest in this but it also says that they are currently shipping back orders on BC16s. It doesn't really look like he's done / doing a runner at all. There might be a wait but I don't think he's trying to rip anyone off. Looks like the BC8 is still available from stock.

From the site / forum it looks like they are still there and working on new products / building old ones.

Re: New drum machine / sequencer / MPC thing from Zoom

If they had not talked dirty of their competitors Cos that's not at all a hip-hop thing to do! I think some people are missing the point. It's not the Internet hate machine that's engaged, it's the internet hype machine. It's good viral marketing and I don't think it's even necessarily aimed at who...

Re: New drum machine / sequencer / MPC thing from Zoom

I think the slightly daft and over the top initial marketing is intended as an attention grabber and that seems to have worked. Seems quite knowing to me. If the specs are good and the price is right it will sell. I don't see too many people being 'alienated' enough by the presentation to not get so...

Re: Fantastic synthesists never mentioned on the VSE Pt.1

I owe a lot to Add N to (X), they changed my ideas about what electronic music should or can sound like, I think the fact that there's been no-one else that comes close to sounding as raw and exciting as they do is a testament to that. It's just a shame they gave up on making music, but I think the...

Re: New drum machine / sequencer / MPC thing from Zoom

I dunno. I think they know exactly where the main market for 'MPCs' is and what you'd have to do to seriously break into that if you are not 'Akai', basically.
