tell em, Sexor  the ESX is one of the strangest things ever. it's ability to completely shred and freakify the samples is very useful - so nice and tasty sounding. The EMX is like a spoiled brat that won't shut up. but, she shakes her blue tush so well and can tear through a mix like hot lead.

i just sold my Prophecy after 8-9 years, and don't think i'll miss it too much. It does some killer digi-shred, some great fx, nice acoustic modelling and some big useful basses. Leads are versatile and oh-so tweakable, but beyond that the thing's a pain to use. And trying to 'juice' the sound is a ...

Re: Isn't this best time to buy a really really good synth?

<something about an an1-x> ... this was the synth I was drooling in 1997. i wish i could drool synths. i'd eat better. but yeah, you're right it's as good a time as any to get very powerful polyphonic synthesizers for cheap. there's no time like now. on the other hand, all the old modulars are stil...

Checked shaft9000's site and the link for something he did with an ESX is broke. so sorry. after some recent housecleaning, the links are fixed now :) for ESX examples try here: http://www.awrongturn.com/synthesizers.html and here: http://www.awrongturn.com/music.html the end of SweetPea shows some...

all very good, think tank is really nice.

What are you using for the Mellotron-type stuff, Marc - specifically the strings?

For a start, the MBox is made by Digidesign, not M-Audio. The only thing they have in common is that they're both owned by Avid. Thanks for the correction, Stab. I only ranted 'cause my friend was slugging through the Mbox 1 on his Mac for a couple years. USB and latency p/o 'ed him and I had to al...

all i said is that progress does not necessarily equal more or better. "The right tool for the job" means why complicate and introduce unnecessary variables when all one needs at many times is one capable voice. The p600 can sure make a bigger sound in unison than a mono, but ask yourself how much f...

tell that ignorant piano player that the human voice is (normally) monophonic, outside of Tuvan throat singers and the like. Every singer heard is defining/expressing/selling their soul using only a monophonic instrument - their voice. It's kinda funny, I had the same experience w/ a piano-playing f...

The main things I need it to do are killer bass, and synth lead. I have strings, pads, piano, etc. covered already. Korg MS2000 - very versatile and fun. Buzzy tone. EGs kinda slow for patterns and rapid modulations, though. Korg Mono/Poly - Absolutely Roland JP8000 - A good all-arounder, but getti...

I had an MEK for about 3 weeks next to my LP and the differences are not crucial, but can rear their head in certain situations. Not a p08 of course, but still a member of "the Prophet family". Although you can filter down the MEK like anything else, there's nothing quite like the Moog's way of "glu...

good idea, sizzle.
i've been thinking about how we could make a d/l or webcast page... or perhaps even a DVD of various tracks from posters.
it would be great to have a searchable index of everyone's work. it might even help some of us get MORE work and stop farting around here so much

way to go, the 999 imo is probably the best drum machine ever.

mono/machine drums have more tricks and sequencing capability but the 999 just plain sounds better imho...except to those who favor that MD robotic, icy flavor over real analog.

I needs mee sequensor! i want an XS, but not so much that I'd sell the 777 to get one. something about ...

those bends at 2:50 are freeky overall a good job. perhaps take a little more time to mix it effectively. what i mean is - it's a bit flat dynamics-wise. i would build/climax it more dramatically, but maybe that's just my male perspective talking. the mellotron's i remember hearing have a more power...

way to go, mate. thats a great price if condition is still proper. if i may make a suggestion: load up samples of your 5 favorite beats that go together, sample a synth or whatever doing some interesting harmonic and or rhythmic bit, and then a few vocal snips. Perhaps plan to cut certain files to a...
