... the lack of individual filters per part is what hurts it, plus it's overall bright tone do you mean more than one filter per part, or more filter models? 'cause each synth part in the EMX-1 definitely has its own dedicated filter. or are you talking about the drum section? drum section. the hat...

the 777 can do some very tasty moog modular emulations...it has a bit of the prophet tone and is great at John Carpenter soundtracky stuff, too. Basically any step-sequenced pattern running VCOs in a percussive fashion is capable of sounding great on a 777. The way it can go from polite mellow tones...

Tassman has some nice VCO models, plus great sequencers and loads of bizarre modules. physical modelling may be it's strongest point. a*s really know how to make good digital sound.
patching is not intuitive at all, though. jumping back & forth from building to editing is a drag.

droolmaster, you're getting bent out of shape over one function being absent...and that amounts to as much as keeping a little scrap of paper next to your synth while programming combos. o. m. f. g . now get over it brother. thanks for the link mel.

this already looks like a winner... if i can batch my samples together in an .esx file before loading 'em into the hardware itself, then it's a bloody godsend...

get a Revolution if you want a 303 but are not anally purist about the whole affair...it's very close but does not behave exactly a 303 due to the different controls. 777 - a much more versatile pattern-based bass monster with a much harder sound. it will do a 95-98% spot-on 303, but why stop there...

get a nice filter to use on all your digitals - Ebbe & Flutt, Sherman, jomox M-Resonator, frostwave resonator and several others are all great candidates

i put my Supernova through a Sherman filterbank and it can sound like a Korg PS one minute, a Jupiter 8 the next (use those analog envelopes too!)

you can use it for hip hop, but it is not designed for this. it's tone is limited to bright, gritty rhythms that cut through a mix. it's better for 4-on-the floor trance & techno but could definitely add some alternate flavor here and there in a hip-hop setup but i would NOT rely on it as a primary ...

what I'd be really interested in hearing now is just a straight sound test-no "playing", or onboard effects. Just single waveforms one at a time. Then maybe you could add filter + chorus to highlight those differences, but seperately, rather than all at once. I feel like that'd be a much more accur...
