Re: Analog Solutions Leipzig VS. Arturia MiniBrute

No worries.
maybe you can use this opportunity to really dig into the Leipzig and report back to us what you like about it?
I'll admit to being interested in them but not quite enough to take the plunge. what little I've heard so far suggests that that synth can rip pretty damn well.

Re: Analog Solutions Leipzig VS. Arturia MiniBrute

pardon the pointed question, sir, but how is anyone here going to have a valid opinion about a synth that has not been released yet? oh! ....i forgot; maybe, just maybe an insider with an advance production model will show up. an insider that happens to also have a leipzig to boot. and maybe he or s...

Re: operators vs oscillators

except that the word he used was better, not more. 'better' is qualitative while 'more' is quantitative

the one thing this site has taught me is that synth-nerds make lousy proof-readers

Re: Roland's greatest synth?

'great' can be expressed quantitatively AND qualitatively so therefore the D-50, Juno 60/106 and MC-303 are their greatest synths in quantity and while i have not tried every Roland, of the ones I have tried it would be tough to top the JP-8's overall quality; particularly in a 30+yr old VCO polysyn...

Re: Winter NAMM 2012

Pittsburgh is fairly well regarded in the Eurorack community, right? h**l yes. value-per-dollar, build, ergonomics, groovy aesthetic and vintage-y sound is their identity in my limited experience of the range - I have a VILFO and VC-Bend module in my case(s) - and they look like 'lab'/DIY at first,...

Re: What kind of samples work better on the ESX-1

i won't touch electribe reverb w/ a 10-foot pole! my ESX is loaded up w/ old drum-machine samples and noise 'bursts' and hits for shaping/resampling. some vocal-drum sounds as well. frankly, since getting an Octatrack my ESX has been demoted. I love the little bugger as it makes more music per dolla...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

this is like the devil-child of an SH-101, SH-3 and synthacon a distinctive new analog synth with lots of useful stuff in there - and a Synthacon filter approved by The Man himself. Not bad!!! Arturia looks to have done right. At this price , it wouldn't be a surprise if this one little synth could ...

Re: Mini D vs. Voyager

as much as we love to fuss with these concerns, after a long time doing this,it's more apparent than ever to me that character comes from the player, not the instrument. i'd argue that the timbre does, too - but I won't bother to argue it as i couldn't give a f**k if you understand this or not. it's ...

Re: What We Talk About When We Talk About Synths

no amps are going to sound like eric clapton or whoever because the person playing the instrument isnt eric clapton in the first place. you are wise, sir if I get mad at my instrument it's because I didn't get the synth I really wanted or I have a delusion of the sort previously described to begin ...

Re: ARP 2600 throwdown

sounds good. definitely more reverb than stock! you can check my yootoob for a few 2600 viddys. i think one is "2600 FX sounds" or some-such. not a challenge but similar r2d2 noises and filter FM. i also love patching LFO shapes through the inverter and then using it instead of the hardwired noise i...
