Re: Waldorf Blofeld
Actually with all the visual feedback on the oscillators, filters, envelopes and, lfos, I think it would good for a newbie to learn on. I actually used mine to teach synthesis to a friend of mine that had a free synth for a couple weeks.and knew nothing about synths other than the fact that they make...

Re: synths: more with less OR less with more?
I like to have very feature rich synths. I have a blofeld and voyager as my main synths and have yet to hit a wall with them . My micro moog and jx3p don't get used as often but they are nice to have when I need them Sometimes I do get lost in creating "the perfect sound"on my feature heavy synths b...

Re: Micromoog appreciation thread
I love my micro moog, it was my first synth. taught me a lot about subtractive synthesis and sound design. Ithink about selling it every now and then for something more modern. But always get talked out of it by myself or someone else (sub phatty was the most recent temptress) I kinda miss the days ...

I remember posting on a forum that KORG would make a boatload of money of they made a bigger microKORG.
Someone sent me a link to the MS2000.

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I'm kind of in the same position as the OP. My first synth, a Yamaha SY22 is in the hands of a friend now, but my second synth, an SH101 (now with grip and original strap) which I've owned for 20 years (cost me 50ukp in 1993!) is now about to be traded for a Pro 1 and a bit of cash. I've used the S...

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
ha theres a lot of poly800s for first synths! that was my second, it was neat, sometimes i still wish i had it for those stacked paraphonic sounds. but the envelopes always bugged me on that. i sold it a couple years ago for a drumtracks which i then sold for my jx3p

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?
I do, its my micromoog. You should keep that one. It's one on those that's more useful than it first appears. I have my first synth, sort of. It was a Korg X5 rompler, and I still have the rack version, the X5DR I traded the keyboard version in for. I still like the harp, the choir, bells and pads,...

How many of you still have your first synth?
...And what is it? i do, its my micromoog. but it has been getting used less and less lately and i have been considering letting it go to fund new gear (minibrute/ms20 combo, subphatty, or analog4...or perhaps starting a modular :help: ) every time i think im going to sell it though, i get all senti...

Re: Waldorf Blofeld
Blofeld is amazing, its practically a digital modular synth. Filters sound really good to (thats coming from a moog fan boy lol) i have had as few issues with it, like the memory problem and it freezing but with the the newest OS (1.16b I think) and having a mod that was recomended by the folks at w...

Re: What's the most effective way to understand terminology?
If it's still any interest to the OP, marc doty has some very educational videos. Watch them all (seriously!) Not only will you understand a lot of the terms your looking for, but you will learn more about the history of synthesis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmM8qIb8rjE&feature=youtube_gdata_play...
