Re: Prophet five rev 2

PROFETTOFIVUH !!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-7BovARxRM I have no idea if this is Rev.2 but for good demonstrations I always turn to MusicTrackJp: Some truly awesome sounds in that video! Can't tell which revision it is, but to my ears it sounds a bit gruntier than my rev. 3, so probably a rev...

Re: Interesting interview with Harold Faltermeyer

Yeah, I heard that interview before, quite interesting. I noticed that he mentions he got his Roland system 700 back for the Thief Of Hearts OST (1984). I recently contacted Harold about it and it turned out he did use the big Roland throughout the score, along with the Jup-8, DX-7, JX-3P and Linnd...

Re: A question for owners or users of the Synthacon.

Nice to know there's at least a couple of synthacon filter clones out there. If I ever get around to building up another modular, I'll probably add one of the clones. The thing that I liked the most about the filter is when you crank the resonance up and modulate the filter with VCO 3, you get this...

Re: Prophet five rev 2

That album was recorded in late '80 but since I haven't seen any live footage or photos from that time I can't tell for sure. Anyway, live footage from early '81 shows Nick with a rev 3. Afaik the rev 3 hit the streets in the fall of that year and he probably knew beforehand that Sequential would c...

Re: Japan "Burning Bridges"- what synths?

You guessed right, there is no mellotron on GTP nor Tin Drum. I'm not sure though what was used for the choir-ish sounds towards the end of "Swing"...could be a VP-330. It reminds me of a choir-ish sound that Queen used, and I saw a studio video of the recording of "One Vision" and "Innuendo" where...

Micke wrote:So have you figured out yet which songs with Japan that feature the Mellotron :?:
Haven't noticed any mellotron on either Tin Drum or GTP, so if I'm not mistaken it has to be on some of the older albums...which I haven't heard yet.. :?

Re: Prophet five rev 2

BUMPing the greatest thread in VSE history!

My prophet is a rev.3 and recently I've been very keen on buying an OB-X.. Perhaps because I'm a lot into Japan right now....

Did Nick Rhodes have a rev.2 or 3 on the first eponymous DD album?

Re: My (and Your) Favorite Minimoog Solos

I'm not sure if it's the Mini or the Pro-one, but Mark Kelly's solo on Marillion's "Just For the Record" (at about 1:52) is amazing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q79xkgIXhmU Mark Kelly is my favorite moog and pro-one solo player! He is! That solo is played on the Pro-One, with the same settings a...

Re: DSI Prophet 08

I could be wrong, if I understand this correctly the one on the Juno is for the Amp envelope and the envelope for the Juno is "fixed" shape? The P09 has one for amp envelope AND filter envelope? I think grasp the concept of amp envelope, maybe? lol I did find an article at sound on sound about enve...
