Re: Success Story: PolySix MIDI Retrofit

From my humble point of view, a great advantage with MIDIfying the older ones is that one can record the chords, lead, line, melody whatever...and then being able to change the SOUND of that afterwards...that's the only thing I use MIDI for, considering hardware synths. I play keyboards good enough ...

Definately a Moog. Could be a Source too, but probably a Mini.

Re: Oxford Synthesizer Co....Oscar

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. OSCar is my all-time favorite monosynth. I had three of them (for polyphonic action etc) for 15 years. I'ts an excellent and unique sounding synth. Someone already mentioned the dual filters that can be overdriven, with separate resonant peaks. I also think its di...

Re: The Official 'Secrets of the Studio' Thread!

Some new tips from iProg: 1. Use a reference track when you've come to the mixing part of an album. It is often, for me, much more inspiring to reassemble a production rather than the actual song. Listen to other producers (trevor horn, peter collins, quincy jones, tony visconti, rupert hine) and im...

The approximate recording dates for these are late '78 and '80 respectively.
I have no speakers on my computer at work so I'll take care of it when I come home :D

Re: Luther Vandross "Stop To Love" - what synth in intro?

Geddy Lee is my favorite PPG player ever, I think. Besides Martin Gore and Billy Currie.

Grace Under Pressure is smacked with terrific PPG sounds, Power Windows as well.

I play Geddy's role in a Rush tribute band called The Hemispheres, I should know ;)

Re: Which synth for 'prog rock' analog sounds?

I know, I know, first post is a "help me find a synth!" post I primarily play guitar and bass, and I'd like to start taking keys a bit more seriously. My only experience on keys is piano lessons as a kid and messing around with a Roland Alpha Juno a few years ago. I'm into the whole "prog rock" thi...
