Hey I am Stereonote sorry I didn't see this earlier... Midines is the most practical way to go for making NES tunes, and hey it's the real thing! I've seen people use donor NES carts and somehow replace the ROM on the cart with their own songs like Nullsleep or Anamanaguci do. I'm not sure exactly w...

I voted "unison saw" but I love PWM too. So it's a tie for me but I had to pick one.

Oh and, the CS01 has great PWM. Always sounds good slow and low. 8)

Any sort of workaround with synths without midi thru?

My ESQ-1 and TR-505 both lack Midi thru, and so will the more modern JP-8000 when I get one (wtf, right?) So is there a way to work around this? Like a little box I can put on the synth/drummachine in question and hook up my midi cables a certain way? I daisy chain my synths together and sequ...

The Ensoniq ESQ-1/SQ-80?
Yes!

Also take a look at cheap FM modules like the TX7, TX81z, FB01 and the like. FM is very deep. Sometimes too deep.

For me it's mostly affordability. I mean I got really nice deals on a lot of my gear. The only synth I'm the original owner of is my Microkorg.

Some vintage stuff can be very expensive but most new stuff is always out of my range anyways.

Hmm. ER-1 is my poor man's 808 in a superficial way. It kind of hits the spot. I know it's not the same though. SY22 = my poor man's Prophet VS. MMT-8 + EPS = Poor man's mpc? Haven't tried it yet but an older used mpc is always an option though. TR-505 = my poor man's Linn Drum. Sometimes it can pul...

Not sure why, but I didn't know Alesis still made A6's. I thought they stopped making them around late 2001 when they were bought by Numark or something.

My friend said he woke up one night and his Juno was standing over him in bed muttering things to itself. He was so scared he passed out and when he woke up again it was gone, but he realised the next day that he was left handed when he used to be right handed. Also his toenails had been tr...

+1 for minimoog.
That patch is good but it's no fun when an octave of your keys don't work. :?
I use it as a starting place when I make new sounds. It's a well programmed and memorable preset though. I'll +1 it too.

ESQ-1 "Mixed" and "Wavbell". -Add a lot of reverb and it's so haunting. The presets are what sound creepy, not any sound I've created myself but thats not my aim when I make patches anyway. (I can post an MP3 of creepy presets if you guys would like me to.) Almost any patch on my Juno-106- some of t...

Sometimes at night, my ESQ-1 turns on by itself, and I can see that the normal green glow of the screen is bright red, and the keys play by themselves. :)

Hey has anybody done some extra research on the SH-101 mating call? :D
