Re: DX7 Serial Number info
the early dx7 from sn 11111 to 25678 produce warmer/fatter sound lol, sure bud. @OP I've had assorted Yamaha gear with a little sticker on the back that has two letters and then two numbers. It seems to indicate the year of production, and I think the factory. Here's one on a DMP7: http://i.imgur.c...

Re: How Much Is My Synth Worth?
Long story short: A fully working Alpha Juno 2 is worth about $250. It's been steady in that price range for quite some time now. Hard to say the same about many other instruments out there.

Someone pick this stuff up! I actually could use some of these pieces, it's a shame he can't ship.
Really would hate to see this stuff "headed for the recycle center unless somebody wants to claim them."

Re: Just how long was the D-50 produced?
Yeah but I'm sure it lasted longer than '89. It was still very popular that year as well. It's gotta be like 1991 or 1992.

Just how long was the D-50 produced?
I found a D-50 on eBay with the serial number HC61779. -That translates to May 1991, and unit number 81779. So the D-50 was still in production until at least then. I knew Roland made a quite a few of these things, but I never realized production lasted that long. However, the M1 lasted until 1994, ...

Re: Juno-60 vs Juno-106
Juno 60 - Sounds a little better, but very overpriced/overrated.
Juno 106 - Abundant and not too hard to find for a reasonable price... But the voice chips can die...
I second the Alpha Juno. Cheap and cheerful, awesome instrument!

Re: How many people still use an ATARI ST setup?
I want to. I grew up using Performer on a Mac SE and then a Quadra. Sadly, I'm so spoiled with modern DAW's these days that I don't think I could adjust to that. I wonder if it's possible to homebrew some software that let's you control the YM chip inside via the MIDI input? That would be pretty cool.
