Re: Lords of the Mini?
Thanks Cumulus, I won't hold my breath and I suspect my membership request will be forever pending anyhow. I'm pretty confident in restoring everything except for the pots and I was hoping for tips on opening sealed Allen Bradley pots, or cross references on any available Clarostat equivalents. I kn...

Lords of the Mini?
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_Lords_of_the_Mini/ I'm planning to restore a model D, and thought I might find some helpful info on the lords of the mini yahoo group. So I joined yahoo, which is like myspace to the power of facebook on the clusterf*ck scale. It seems pretty active, but my m...

Re: rack tuner for synths
A nice frequency counter is one of the most used tools on my workbench, accurate to 7 decimal points. Something to consider if you're moving towards sdiy, and they can be found cheap. Before that I was using an old Conn strobe tuner, which I'm only keeping because it looks so damn cool.

Re: How To Fit An External Input to the Juno-106 Chorus Unit
That's a good point. I've never turned up the frequency to high (maybe 20 or 30 Hz) because I was also afraid of the CPU stumbling over itself. Caution advised.

Re: How To Fit An External Input to the Juno-106 Chorus Unit
Nice work!! I'll might just have to try this. It looks as if this is basically an input for voice number 7 ;) Nice how it comes in right before a unity inverting buffer so you don't have to worry about impedance. How does line level audio compare with the other channels? Why the cap? DC blocking? Yo...

Re: Good sequencer for a Vermona DRMI MkIII?
the DRM1 doesnt accept anything more complex than note trigger messages does it? It accepts velocity. You'd have to save, but the 909 driving a Vermona is endless fun and totally worth a summer mowing lawns or whatever IMHO. You can map the drums so that snare is snare etc. and the Vermona remember...

Re: Oscilliscope Tips?
Try some software spectrum analyzers as well. This one is free:

Hardware oscilloscopes can usually be found for less than $50 (especially on upstate NY craigslist). They can prove pretty helpful in fixing up old synths as well.

An Alesis MMT-8 could sequence songs just like Rush for cheaper than anything else.

An email response I received this morning, just in case other people were curious. "The only way is a midi-Interface which accesses the keyboard matrix. I know three. Kenton is doing one; extremely expensive, and not too much features. Robatum in Frankfurt, Germany is making one: http://www.robatum....

Re: Grant for equipment
Congrats! Is this grant for personal use, or some sort of non profity thing? Do all the funds need to go to new gear or is used stuff in the cards? IMHO the build quality of the ZED series is aweful. I'd take the HS-50's over the RP6's but I've never heard a side by side comparison.
