Breitt, I sold Moogs as well...I've sold the easiest to use machines out there. What stuck with me are machines that take a little more time, but offer a little more in the end. There isn't a one osc synth with a decent filter and a 32 step sequencer (in one box) on the market... but with the G2, I...

Taking the Prophet 08 Module plunge...

I'm hours away from jumping in. Does anyone have any last words of caution or encouragment? I'm pretty nervous about this 'cause I really didn't like the Polyevolver when I tried it for a few nights last year. It just didn't feel or sound all that inspiring for some reason. I'm hoping the P08 module...

Don't want to be a party-pooper, JS, but don't do it! I think that you (like me), need the immediacy of the hardware interface. Having to delve into menus and your computer could very well be a creativity buzzkill, as evidenced by some of the purchases and sell-offs in your history. I think we're bo...

If I could find -- well, lets be honest, afford -- a sunsyn, I'd get that. Is the p08 rack out yet? Regarding p08 vs andromeda a6, anyone know if that sonic territory is fairly similar? I'm pretty familiar with the a6, but really know very little about the p08. I'm thinking the p08 is a subset of t...

Re: Three Prophet '08 Demo Videos Available (in stereo)

http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/images/p8m_home.jpg http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/ Hands down your best option. Fits the bill exactly!! (IMHO) Has anyone bought one of these? I'm tempted, but I keep reading conflicting opinions about the sound quality (mostly in reference to the keyboard ...

Why is that? I think a Moog polyphonic analog would the perfect next step!

Access Virus and Elektron Monomachine

I always wondered how these two animals would get along. I think the expressiveness of the Virus is tempered nicely with the cold digitalism of the Monomachine in this piece. Some bouncy, yet somber electro-pop.

Check out 'Bunny Christ':

For experimental sounds, which you mention, I think that you'd be much more pleased with a Sunsyn than the Omega. I've used both, and the Sunsyn is just much better for intuitive, crazy sound tweaking. The Omega sounds great for more traditional synth sounds. Thanks! I sort of figured that. Now I h...

Thanks! I'm still wary of it. I would need to find an actual unit to test before I would spring for it, though. I really want something unique and out there, something I can get lost in for hours experimenting with, something otherworldly, yet not too complicated. BTW-your new tunes are fantastic! ...

http://www.davesmithinstruments.com/products/p8m/index.php I say don't be afraid of it... it is the closest thing, in one box, to what you want. I think you are just scared of the analog style sequencing right? You'll get used to it quick. I'd be interested in this synth if it wasn't only 16 steps ...

Anyone know the major difference between the Code and the Omega? Code's additional features: Fully discrete VCAs, discrete output OpAmps, Osc1 has sine wave, no arpeggiator, can sweep through filter types in real-time. A version with overdrive per voice is also available. I'm not sure whether the O...

The PEK has menu diving? You must have seen a special one, the PEK has one of the most readily available interfaces out there, especially compared to the monomachine which you said you liked. Basically, apart from the Spectralis there isn't anything out there that matches your description. You don'...

Andromeda without the keys?

I'm looking for an analog poly that has the sound and experimental capability of an Alesis Andromeda, but is strictly sequencer driven. I know the Andromeda has a sequencer on it, but the 61 keys are a waste for me because I'll never use them. Every other analog poly I've researched seems to either ...

I'm intrigued by this box as I've been searching for a modern analogue poly with unique filters and built-in sequencer for a long time now. The one thing holding me back is the sequencer implementation. Has anyone actually used the sequencer on these units? How intuitive/practical/easy is it? It loo...
