Re: D50 0r VC1 D50 card for VSynth
Whatever route you go down I'm sure you will be satisfied. It is a lovely synth. Should you get one we would be happy to help out with editors/librarians, documentations and patches!

Re: What laptop should I buy for soft synths?
Could anyone recommend me a *silent* laptop? And not a Mac, must be a pc. Actually, the Fujitsu I'm using and wrote about earlier is very, very silent. There is also a video review on YouTube confirming this. CS_TBL is right. Music is no hassle for a PC in 2011. And to me it wasn't a hassle in 2007...

Re: What laptop should I buy for soft synths?
Not trying to, sir. Just pointing out that you don't have to sell your grandma to get something nice and stable and easy to use with softsynths.

Re: What laptop should I buy for soft synths?
I recently bought a new 15.6" Fujitsu Lifebook AH530, Dual Core P6200, 4GB RAM, Win7 x64. For $550 (probably less in the states) you get very good and solid, sleek and stylish german built laptop. I bought mine exclusively for music purposes and no online at all (I have a little netbook for that), w...

Re: D50 0r VC1 D50 card for VSynth
Why don't you try and find a cheap D-550? Roland racks are durable and dependable. I wouldn't bother with a PG-1000, and I say that having owned one. Unless you memorize the exact position of the sliders you will mess up your programs when switching between the 4 partials, and it's prone to dust col...

Re: Atari ST Trackman and Pulsar in action!
Yeah, Pulsar is really nice! I only recently "discovered" it and have yet to learn all the keyboard shortcuts etc. The Cubase I'm using is the MCA version. By the way, the first version of Trackman was reviewed by Sound On Sound in December 1988 . From what I can gather Trackman got quite a lot of p...

Here is an interesting website that has comparisons and rankings of the different 303 clones as well as VST versions:

Re: Atari ST Trackman and Pulsar in action!
I am running Cubase 2.01 and it works flawlessly. You can find a no-dongle version here: http://www.atarimusic.net/ (The downloads section seems to be down for the moment, check later.) What is weird/cool is that Cubase 2 (and most of the programs I have tried) under STeem emulator seems tighter tha...

Atari ST - Trackman and Pulsar in action!
I made some videos demonstrating these great old programs. This first one is Pulsar 2.14 by Neil Wakeling -running on Windows 7 in STeem, the Atari ST emulator. All my Atari software runs perfectly in STeem, which lets me route MIDI through my USB Uno Interface. If you follow my mouse movements, you...

Re: What a Fairlight can do
Nice!
They are simple, but powerful and special at the same time. I am more and more impressed with the samples each time I use them. I am also amazed at how naturally punchy the Fairlight drums are.

Re: Did I bork my Roland S-550?
Good to hear the problem is solved. Now to track down a mouse for a reasonable price... :D Good luck with that! The "Roland Mouse" is actually a Philips SBC 3810, but any MSX mouse will do. The best price I could find was from this guy: http://www.bas-ditta.info/verkoopenlinks/hardware%20engel...

Re: Did I bork my Roland S-550?
Thanks for the reply! I think the issue is the power cable or the actual electrical input- I wiggled the cable and the plug around, and magically it turned on. Easy fix, hopefully. *Whew!* That doesn't sound very stable, you should open it and get it fixed properly. Or let someone fix it for you. A...

Re: New JX-8P inspired VSTi!
Version 1.0 is ready! Seems more CPU friendly, at least on my pc. And it sounds wonderful. A worthy replacement for the JX-8P. Great work mr. Lueders! http://sites.google.com/site/mlvst0/ I sold my JX-8P in 2009 because I felt it had really crappy build quality. It was well taken care of and all but...

Re: Waldorf offers PPG3 Evaluation
I have tried it but it seems to draw a lot more juice from my CPU and has a bigger interface occupying more screen. I am already very satisfied with 2.V and have come to the conclusion that I don't need this version.
