Re: New Korg Kronos????
The sequencers are near identical (Kronos has 480 ppqn resolution and 24 bit recording, instead of 192 ppqn and 16bit on the OASYS.) Nice work on the tunes!! Regarding the sequencers, there is a lot of fussing over on the Korg forums that the Kronos sequencer is actually a step back from the M3 (Ex...

Re: The rise of the OB Cyclone
That is pretty high praise! You might be able to implement something yourself using Reaktor, etc to replicate the effects of the Cyclone. Probably easier to just find another unit. regarding the diode protection - that is a pet peeve of mine. i know manufacturers are just trying to save a buck, but ...

Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER
Why no one has cloned the JX-3P polyphonic step sequencer and elaborated upon it.. I have no idea. That thing is golden. What is so special about it? I've never used it before. Is it similar to the polyphonic 1-track step sequencer in the Poly-800? A lot of the modern step sequencers (Genoqs, etc) ...

Re: The rise of the OB Cyclone
i got one of the cyclones when it was first released. that thing was so buggy it was almost useless. cool idea at the time but the execution was terrible. i recall it having sync problems and would crash if you threw too much MIDI data at it or pushed the front panel buttons too quickly or while it ...

Re: Monotron Mods
I would be going the Maxim DAC route if I were you. any particular reason why? We were adapting an existing midi to CV setup there is a decent wikipedia article on digital pots and their limitations: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_potentiometer this is getting a little bit beyond my knowledge...

Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER
i might have to add the korg microstation's sequencer to the "worst" list. i was expecting something akin to an MMT-8 but its nothing like it. its basically a linear sequencer with some nice looping facilities. but the killer is that the menu tree for the sequencer functions is massive. it takes 500...

Re: Monotron Mods
controlling a monotron from an arduino is not a trivial task, but doable. first of all, the PWM outputs are not really suitable for generating CV's. you are going to need to something else - there are several good discussions about this in various forums. i would consider one of the Maxim-IC multi-c...

Re: New Korg Kronos????
anyone been able to get their hands on the Kronos manual yet? still nothing on korg's website. the only info on the net is marketing hype (apparently the kronos is the greatest workstation ever).

Re: Anyone still sequence on the Atari ST?
i was more productive with Cubase 2.8 than any other software. i ran it on win 98 for years and it was quite solid. as with any windows OS, the timing was never as good as a hardware device. once the machine died i decided to upgrade to a modern DAW (actually, several) and could never even get close...

Anyone still sequence on the Atari ST?
Just curious if anyone still uses an Atari ST to sequence. If so, what software are you using? stock midi interface? which model ST?
i would be interested in hearing your opinions on using the ST. i've been loosely kicking around the idea as a fun diversion.

love that Go West tune! definitely a classic. for a totally overproduced tune, it rocks.
