Re: Moog might be considering a new polysynth...
- an all-out monster. 3 VCOs per voice and a full knob-laden interface, like the MemoryMoog. Push the boat out with 8 voices and extensive modulation options. 61 note keyboard with velocity and aftertouch. Expensive, but very desirable! I think this is their only viable solution. Anything less and ...

Re: Moog might be considering a new polysynth...
The company that make the $3000 monosynth aren't gonna undercut themselves by putting out a $2500 analogue polysynth. Agreed 100%. Anyway, yes. Moog. Polysynth. $5,000 to $6,000 price point. Probably more LP than Voyager in terms of voice architecture. That's my prediction. Yeah I think these numbe...

Re: Hardware vs. Software Envelopes/LFO's
Hmm, I suppose we should define what we mean by "best". Are we talking about speed or smoothness or some other factor? If you are looking for the "randomness" of analogue hardware, I think that could be reasonably simulated as well. In the olden days, an underpowered synth whose CPU's were bogged do...

I just don't understand why this has filled up with 4 pages of requests/demands Demands? No... Dreams? Yes :D - CM exactly :) speculation is usually just someone's wish list. i'm probably as guilty of this as anyone :D i'll go on the record as being very interested. would love to see a new moog pol...

Hardware vs. Software Envelopes/LFO's
Looks like the Moog thread was about to derail, thought a new thread might be in order. What are the pros and cons of software implementation of modulation versus hardware implementation? With the speed of modern CPU's, I think its a tough case to make that software implementation is somehow inferio...

i'd like to see a major price reduction on the genoqs octopus
its just a matter of time until i buy one. resistance is futile. i will be assimilated.

Re: Building a Synth from discarded parts
Most of the early 80's model Kirby vacuum cleaners contained a Moog filter you could probably salvage.

Re: A Simple Electribe Thread
You could pretty easily build something like that yourself and use a microcontroller for the brains. The MIDIBOX project would probably be the best to place to start, I'd say you could get 90% of the code there. The hardware cost for all those buttons and LED's would be a bit steep. I've thought try...

Its called a Genoqs Octopuspricklyrobot wrote: and an ESQX[?] (an Electribe with no synth or sampler, just 8 tracks of x0x-sequencing goodness, with the accompanying 128 light-up buttons).
Seriously, if Korg made the ESQX I'd buy it in a second.

Re: What was the ultimate drum machine of the '80's?
I think a more interesting question is "what are the ultimate production techniques of the 80's with 80's drum machines?" A Linn and a DMX is one thing, but making them sound GOOD on a track is another. The pop tunes of the 80's had such a crisp, punchy sound and there was clearly a lot of pro...

Do you have the service docs? A local tech can probably tell you what the problem is. Most likely its a bad component in the PS.

Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER
How was the piano roll editor? Could you use the mouse to edit notes and their lengths? I believe so, but don't quote me on it as it's been some time now. BTW - The video out is locked at 800 x 600 and both LCDs I tried couldn't display that resolution without weird artifacts...in addition one LCD ...

Re: Worst.. hardware sequencer.. EVER
I had a Roland MV8800 for a while. Ended up really hating its "quirky" workflow. Every function was dumbed-down and over-comparmentalized. Probably one of the clunkiest, non-intuitive, non-ergonomic sequencers I have ever used... How was the piano roll editor? Could you use the mouse to edit...
