does this mean, when part of a 'big' mix, individual or solo'd tracks can still sound really raw?

Re: effects and processing for bass

I'm going to have to agree with Tallowwaters on this one. There really is no rules for what to do with bass or any sound for that matter. Its all dependant on the style or sound that is called for. When it comes to FX- hard or soft, you're just going to have to figure it out for yourself. You can s...

Re: effects and processing for bass

how does one manage to blend their bass into a mostly wet mix? Not sure what you mean by that- but just because there's effects on other stuff, it doesn't follow that the bass needs effects too. for synth bass i find you really do. i apply effects to everything. the synth only contributes 50% of th...

effects and processing for bass

o.k, most people know that reverb generally doesnt work on bass. what does for you? how does one manage to blend their bass into a mostly wet mix? what effects/processing is good to use? obviously for different genres, different techniques will be used. so... what genre of music do you usually make?...

Re: lofi sound stuff

Yeah that would work. A trick I use a bit to get softsynths sounding a bit more real is to bus them out to an BBD delay with the feedback set to 0 and the mix to 100% wet. Adjusting the delay time changes how lofied the signal gets, but you have to remember to move the track back into time after yo...

Re: lofi sound stuff

Recording with a lo-fi sound? A cheap 4-track cassette recorder and some cassettes that have been used way too many times. so... i take indivdual tracks or a full song from my sequencer and bounce it onto a 4-track, then record it back in to the computer as audio and this process will give an old e...

Re: lexicon reverb mx 300

If it's anything like the MX200 I had until recently, it should sound bright and clear - noticably clearer than older similar units. I wasn't keen on the features of the 200 (lack of editing etc) so upgraded to the MPX1; but if I was after a decent first rack effect, I reckon the 300 would be a goo...
