Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?
There's good reasons to want every voice to be the same timbre. Just like there's good reasons why you wouldn't want that. Both have their place, one is just more common. Well, certainly... there is no denying that having the choice to decide what you want is much better than not having the choice....

Re: When will we see a new (non-DSI) analog poly?
I wouldn't say that mono's are better than polys. That's crazy talk. I'm good at crazy talk. I prefer monos because of the sad thing that happens to synthesizers when you make them polyphonic. There is no reason why a synthesizer should play 4 or 6 or 8 carbon copies of the timbres, pitches, etc. y...

You can wait around frustrated for the expensive thing you want.
Or, you can multitrack.
Or, polychain.

Re: Moog Voyager vs slim phatty
I'm no tone nazi, they both sound like Moogs to me, Voyager just has a wider palette. Well, I'm not the first to say that a Phatty has a specific tone. Both sound like modern Moogs to me. But neither sound like vintage Moogs to me. Yes, I am a Tone Nazi. But if you're not into tone... why waste you...

Re: Moog Voyager vs slim phatty
My experience with the Little Phatty is that it has a very distinctive character of sound, and that character is somewhat pervasive in it. The Voyager, on the other hand, is powerful... but seems to lack any sort of general character except that defined by function. The Phatty seems to have a sort o...

Re: Come see a panel with Herb Deutsch, Bill Hemsath, and MO
Also, I'll be there. So, if you want to punch me in the face, or anything... AG, I'd be there in a minute to shake your hand and buy the first round, but unfortunately, it is not to be. Will you be there with video to document it? We're going to document as much as we can... there's a whole opening...

Come see a panel with Herb Deutsch, Bill Hemsath, and MORE
Hello, dear fellows. If you're in, around, or near New York State at all, you really should come to see this. It's going to be extremely cool. The panel will feature: Herb Deutsch- the guy who inspired Bob Moog to build his first voltage-controlled modular device and modules. Bill Hemsath- The guy w...

Re: Reminder: it is still about the player not the gear ....
If it's not about the gear, and it is about the music, then I'm sure you would be equally comfortable creating music with a piano. slight correction: my point was not "it is not about the gear it is about the music". please replace "music" with " player ". i hope (and believe) you see the nuance .....

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke
Do modern moogs use dcos? I thought they were completely analog. Are they like dsi/Juno 106 DCOs ? Or MS - 20 'digitally stabilised' VCOs? Can someone please explain to me the difference? You can drive moogs and the Ms 20 oscs with cv, but you can't drive a dsi or a Juno with it. They use an analog...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke
STG and Manhattan Analog both make a CP3 clone in Euro (and STG do in 5U). I have both and they sound great. :thumbleft: But yes, that's another thing that Moog shouldn't waste their time doing, they should do something new and interesting. Well, clones, sure. If we're going to talk clones, there's...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke
"That Norlander system had many of those and they made many of that revision 901 up into late 1967." That makes sense, then. :D Also, two of the three systems I've used weren't being controlled by 950s or 951s. When I was using the Wall of Doom, it was controlled by a modified Little Phatty. The BMF...

Re: The Moog Modular was not an April's fool joke
Don't forget the CPs! They are an important part of the "Moog Sound." But yes, I agree!madmarkmagee wrote:But couldn't they just mass produce them like they mass produce most of their other products?
You wouldn't have to do everything but some Moog Oscillators and filters in the Eurorack format would be nice
