I think some people have to remember the difference between composition and process. In these delightful post-modern times, process is as important, sometimes more important, than the output. Since the music is all rehash no matter what, it becomes very important to the maker (and, we wish, the list...

Interesting article, though. While they very pleasingly describe the micro-genrification of electronic music, they describe a lightshow as being "lo-fi."
Ugh. I am baffled as to how so many got so confused about the definition of "lo-fi."

Is progress using old things in a new way? The way people are carrying on, you'd think it was. Just like those crazy kids who started using military oscillators as musical sources. After WWII. Come on, people. This chip-based music is interesting and valid, but it's not a revolution. Techno's usage...

There is nothing scary about Maxikorg's going for $800 and above:

I was very interested in them in 2005, and that's what they were going for then.

Secondly, they're frickin' two synthesizers in one, and duophonic... why shouldn't they go for more than many other synths??

I have every right to say that song sucks if I want to, that's what an open forum is about. Opinions. And come on, he hardly sings on pitch the entire song :) At least the performance wasn't all that hot. And if indeed the song was made with Odysseys, and the CS-80s are just there for "face value"....

Fair enough. :)

After looking at this guy's history previous to this recording, I was a little surprised that anyone would let him get away with the out of tune vocals!

Just goes to prove that no matter how much awesome gear you got on a track, if it's s**t then it's still s**t. Ha ha, if you hate that, Bitexion, you hate a good 90% of the 80s New Wave movement. As far as 3 CS-80s... I imagine those were probably rented. A person or group who really used 3 w...

I'd say a lot of it is they used to be cheap with a reasonable sound and function and got a pretty good reputation. Now, I'd prefer to get more for the money. If they were $100 they'd be a good buy for an analog. I can get behind that. I have nearly bought one for that reason on a number of occasio...

When are you of the color obsession going to start insisting that the different colors are desireable because they have different sounds? I have been accused of reveling in the glorification of analog minutiae on many occasions, and even I don't understand what the fascination with the SH-101 ...

My question is: Who is buying these things? Even in the 80s it seemed like "keytars"... were the province of people PRETENDING to be new wave bands instead of actual bands using them. They're now the province of people who are in the kind of band that the people who originally bought keytars in the...

Uh, because the price is where supply and demand intersect... WD WD, as per usual, you rock. :) My question is: Who is buying these things? Even in the 80s it seemed like "keytars" (I never heard that term until very recently, and then I found it had been mentioned in a Keyboard magazine way back i...

There are two schools here among synth enthusiasts and repairmen that I have met. A) 'Do not change the original components unless they are broken. The gradual change in sound is part of the character of vintage synths.' B) 'Replace the old components when they start messing with the original inten...
