I love both bands btw...
I was a huge fan of the Cure, but I gotta say that anyone who thinks this song beat Blue Monday, or, indeed, that anything did or ever could beat Blue Monday is mad. Yes, Jugel, you're mad. :)

that's because i just sold mine. for loose change.  Tell me about it - they go for next to nothing. Didn't you also sell your JX-10 as well? At least you'll be able to buy one back quite easily if need be - the prices don't seem to be rising at all. I have owned two JX3Ps. As long ...

In general, the second oscillator usually only provides a bit more timbral variety, and the possibility of detuning (except in the case of the CS-80, where the second oscillator is its own full voice). Neither timbral difference nor detuning necessarily means a patch will be fat. If a single-osc pol...

I would like to invite people to experiment with Minimoogs AND physical modulars before they assert anything, too.

I guarantee that it is different to use and program them than it may seem from looking at them or reading about them.

Most, if not all polys have patch storage/memory, no?
The PS-3100 and CS-50 do not. (the CS-50 does have presets, but they are not stored... they're wired)

I mean I don't know for certain, but I have a feeling that if a study were done, such types of things would probably be found to be normal. Where you'd have this in depth syntheist sorts that also happened to excel at a number of very left brained based activities. And you'd have this other sort of...

The Minimoog was created, at least in part, due to pressure from popular musicans who were daunted and thwarted by the modular synthesizer. It's hard for some people to understand that now due to the computer age, etc. But this instrument was very difficult for traditional musicians to understand. I...

I can't remember how much I paid for my chipsforbrains MG-1 sliders... but I DO remember this: the price fluctuated. I looked once, and the price was like $80 for the set, then I looked again later and it was $100, and then I looked again and it was back to something like $80. So, I can't do the mat...

There is one interesting synth that I find makes nice strings (close to classic string machines), and it's Korg PS3300. Of course I never seen one, but I have a nice album called Aquarythmies, which is entirely recorded on PS3300 (and some bass monosynth for bass lines) , and it has some nice rich ...

What do you guys think of the Korg Delta? The Korg Delta is a strange keyboard. Nothing on it is particularly a great example of that which it is, but somehow all together, it makes for an interesting, unique sounding, and fun keyboard. It has a fantastic filter... just utterly wonderful filter... ...

This is why the Korg Lambda is one of the best string synths ever... sure, it had an effect... but it didn't need it, because it had three layers of oscs. Most string synths, or any other single-osc synth, really, added effects to combat the misperception that the synth would be useless with only on...
