Ah, hello, Tallow. Thanks for defending me against unwarranted attack. As usual, you're providing a comfortable place where everyone's opinion is valid.

I was playing nice until I wasn't played nice with.

You're not really expecting to hear anything worthwhile from someone who says: Let's remember what the term "synthesis" means. In that spirit, I have to say sound... or interface. ...are you though? Let's remember what the term "full of hot air" means. In that spirit, I have to say... synthesiser. ...

Why? No one is saying it's the only relevant factor. Might want to re-read the thread title, chief. ;) (And why would we want to get stuck with only the transistor-ladder sound, anyway?) Calm down, uh, Chief . It was only an observation. I guess it depends on your definition of "crucial," but I thi...

For those of you who believe it is the filter, I would encourage you to purchase Moogerfoogers, and then it won't matter what the rest of the synthesizer is like.

Where are you getting the MC202 numbers? I find it hard to believe its the synth they made fewest of. Less than the SH-3 (not 3a) and VP-330? I can't find the page where I first read it but this Sound On Sound article states that it was Rolands worst-selling product. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos...

The strange thing about a lot of these analog listings is that while the market today (and recently) makes them SEEM rare, about five years ago, they were plentiful! The rarity of a lot of synths is generated by the fact that people are just holding on to them these days. I bought an E-mu E-Synth wh...

I also have a MS50 which is desirable and hard to find. I wonder how many were made. I used to have an MS-50, and they have been quite rare all along. I only got the one I had because I contacted someone who had recently sold one on eBay and told him that if his buyer fell through to contact me... ...

Re: Decent Organ ... and then some.

I bandmate is sick of dealing with his organ live.. and since he usually effects it .. we were thinking of replacing it with a synth .. since he's a really good player .. even when you set him up with an awful Juno-60 piano preset he gets great results. What synth can give you decent organ sounds.....

There are two reasons I sell a synth: 1. Because I don't use it. (there are plenty of synths I have sold that I completely love... but if I don't use it, it's... well, of no use. Analog synths atrophy for me when I don't use them, so I am paranoid about having them around if I'm not using them) 2. B...

Demos of the Roland SH-3A

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuqWtlKZCYY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2ZxUL_ZVKs The videos were recorded in what has become my standard setup: My voice and key clicks, etc. are that which the camera picked up. The synth output is recorded separately to my recording system. That way, you can h...

Every model of analog synth is different, and has different strengths and weaknesses. They should each be measured upon their own merit, not against some "fat" ideal or the like.
"Thin" synths have a place! Just like the orchestra... you can't have every instrument sounding like a french horn. :)
