Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

Moog has never made a drum machine. Perhaps not one that would sit on a table top. But the R.A.Moog Co. made one of the original automated synthesizer percussion units way back in 1969, the 700 series. http://mysite.verizon.net/vze6s1hi/sitebuildercontent/sitebuilderpictures/700system.jpg From what...

Hmm. Because the point of a drum machine USED to be to provide automated drums. It's only been in the last probably 10 years that anyone really gave an f about the extremely subtle nuances provided by analog drum machine functionality.

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

Hmm ... A Moog drum machine would catch my attention! I'll probably sound like a d**k asking this, but I mean it honestly: Why? Moog has never made a drum machine. The things that make Moog desirable have nothing to do with a drum machine. Granted, they did make a guitar, which was just as obtuse a...

Re: The 10 greatest synthesizers of all time

What did i miss when I had a CS-15....? Oh so much! The CS-15 is infinitely flexible if you put the time in to learn it. I agree entirely. It is one of the most powerful monosynths to come out of the 70s. But because there's no big star or big genre associated with it, no one looks into the really ...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

My bad. The true purpose of VSE is not to harmlessly and passively give people GAS or engage conversation about music and music making. It's to divert the original topic to complain and draw attention to personal pet peeves. In the fine tradition of all free societies, to bind the superficial burde...

Re: Moog Little Phatty Discontinued

I don't think Bob had much to do with the development of the Little Phatty. I am not sure why it was marketed as such. Because "Bob Moog's Last Synth Design" is likely to sell far more than "Here is the first synth Moog Music created after Bob's Passing (but it does contain some of his work!)." :( ...

You smell that? It's gonna be a forum war.

Ps - it sounds like the bmf was only sitting on the archives as they were waiting for resolution from his widow.
There's no war.
Just the people who know, and the people who want to weigh in.

And this isn't the thread.

Re: I Dream of Wires

It's what Bob wanted. But no it's much better for the BMF to continue to do nothing with them... Did you just say "it's what Bob wanted?" As if you know what it says in Bob's will? Perhaps you should find out what it says in Bob's will before you say that. Or, you can just be a douchebag on the int...

Re: The 10 greatest synthesizers of all time

Good day. Are you the Moog guy that did an extensive Arturia Minibrute review on YouTube. If so, nice to meet you :D Well, back to your comments about defining best. I suppose you could if it a 100m race or something, i.e. stuff that can be quantified but not music, because it is something that ple...

Re: I Dream of Wires

This can be proven soon. You'll be able to go to Cornell and review Bob's notebooks and see this for yourself. Don't you work for the Bob Moog Foundation which is fighting Bob's widow's efforts to have the archives donated to Cornell? Or have they given up on that? You say that like you don't know ...

Re: 10th Anniversary Minimoog Voyager Gift

Kenneth, it's not a free gift at all. It is a very effective marketing tool. You want to keep contact with your customers, and you want your customers to be REPEAT customers. Having a customer's contact information is worth WAY more than a metal knob... its invaluable. You actually pay Moog for the...

Re: The 10 greatest synthesizers of all time

Before we talk about the best of anything, we have to discuss the criteria for what defines "best." Then it ISN'T subjective.

Re: 10th Anniversary Minimoog Voyager Gift

The Voyager is a hugely powerful synthesizer, and if all you're doing is clutching at the brass knob... My favorite knobs are the headphone volume knob and the 3 mixer knobs. Not b/c the predetermined function is all too cool, but becasue pot mapping 8-) Those are th knobs I see to be uterly f**k u...
