I recall when it the Pulse first came out, I bought one of the first infact which cost me about £600!! Alot of people often said about how Minimoog like it was, but much of that is down to two things. 1) The 3 Oscillators 2) The fact that the Filter can be overdriven and give that Minimoog "growl" ...

Does the Pulse have "endless" knobs? No, it hasn't, and therefore editing from the frontpanel will drive you crazy. V2.01 OS allows you to see the value of the parameter without changing it by holding down the 'row select' buton and tweaking the knob. I find if you simply cut a little treble on you...

I don't use Live (yet) but I find the external MIDI clock on a PC quite sloppy next to the Elektrons own internal clock.

I think the pitch of the internal KP3 synths would be trigged by a MIDI CC rather than MIDI notes as this what the KP3 responds/transmits as MIDI info via the X/Y pad?.

My Elektrons have ensured I'll never want to sequence with a mouse ever again unless I really have too! 8) 8)

My mates P3 is cool too with ton's of depth but it's still not as immediate as my two Swedish beauty's.

I know Hawtin used a BEL Electronics BD80 Delay (i have one of these also) for a lot of his delay effects, and an Ensoniq DP4 effects unit, of course this was all in his hardware days, but now he uses the latest plug-in effects. http://www.durftal.com/music/edmx/dmxstudio/synthimages/bd80.jpg I rem...

It's more noticable when the ARP is sequenced than played by hand but it can be fixed if you know the right chap.

The grey version with the Moog filter is the best one as the earlier ones had the PCB's covered in plastic and you don't get the Moog ladder on the later versions.

Is the dreaded 2600 VCA thump fixed?

What else is good from Tetsu? . The 2350 Broadway 1-5, Dataside 2 (the none trance tracks), Dataside Flowerhead, HAT DSP Holiday (loungey fun), Mu (awesome collaboration with Atom Heart) Time2, World Receiver (best solo ambient album) and more recently Inland. He did go though a stage of glitch noi...

Alex Winter didn't 'usurp' the name - the licence to the name had expired in the UK since 1983, so he was able to register the name here. Despite some now-resolved unpleasantness with regards to giving up the name in the UK long after his company folded (back in 2000), there's no denying that he di...
