I don't know about the Basstation but the Pulse+ has an excellent MIDI/CV interface and you can even route internal LFO's, velocity, VCA ect to the extra CV out which would be nice with the Pro1's external filter CV in. Basstaions are still much cheaper tho.

I find that freebie softsynths whilst having some having a very respectable sound tend to always fall short with external MIDI CC use. I don't think you'll find any freebie to match the sound quality of something like an Arturia or be as extensive as an FM7/8 but some can be on par with some older V...
