Owned one of these machines the CR-8000, sort of cheap version of the 808, kinda KR-55 sounding a bit too, but can be a bit of bastard to program.wiss wrote:The Roland CR-5000 and CR-8000 shouldnt be overlooked

Re: roland tr-808 and tr-909
Sorry to interrupt in your guys' discussion, I didn't want to make a new thread... but could someone recommend me other drum machines that sound similar to the tr-909? I'm going for the 909's kind of "hard" sound and will be using it for electro type stuff. Thanks If your gonna do Electro, the TR-8...

Re: The morality of sampling movie SFX
Interesting argument tho-what if you make the rjd2 or laser gun sounds from Star Wars on your ARP 2600... Can "sounds" in themselves be copyrighted? I know Pete Namlook sampled an entire 50 minutes of the disney movie "The Black Hole" (See: Namlook VII), but he did mangle it a lot to a certain degr...

Re: Earliest Minimoog recordings
"I did use the 'big rig' moog initially. But when the mini-moog came along it was more to my liking and I gave away the big rig to a dear friend of mine." Now that is interesting because Chris Franke of Tangerine Dream mentioned he acquired a second moog modular from the moody blues in the early 70...

Re: Earliest Minimoog recordings
Jethro Tull's Passion Play used a lot of Minimoog "The Forest Dance Parts I & II" as well as the "Overseer Overture" and other parts of the album. But of course this is 1973 this one came from, so not pre-73.

Re: ESX sampling memory?
that extra $350 gives you a very fast 2.5mb flash ROM, now people like me and JSR would like something like 10mb of ROM, but for that the MD-UW would be very costly indeed. it's not about the limited sample space ie: MD-UW classic: 2mb 32 ROM slots, 2 RAM slots, MD-UW mkII: 2.5mb 48 ROM slots, 4 RAM...

Re: MACHINDRUM SPS-1 MK1 UW UPGRADE?
They no longer do the upgrade as stated, you'll probably have to sell your SPS-1 and save a little bit money and buy a UW mkII instead.

best thing to do with any synth is basically wipe the contents of entire user area and start making your own sounds

Re: FX for acidlab bassline?
may throw in some cheap Overdrive somewhere there too for more agressive-sounding 303 lines. anyhow, what pedals can do this? I'm asking because I honestly can't think of any product that suits my needs... so, suggestions? overdrive the gain input on your mixer for the bassline, you'll get the same...

Re: Acidlab Bassline
however, the tuning knob freaks me a little. The bassline is way out of tune with the tune knob dead centered (where the marker points straight up), by about half an octave. this means I have to fine-tune to make it go with other synth-lines, and this turns out to be quite troublesome. thing is, wh...
