Have you considered Rolands mc-909 or mc-808? Probably still a bit pricey, but might be worth checking out. It seems there's consensus that the RS7000's sequencer is superior, but the Roland boxes have far more advanced synth sections. their pricing's not too bad, but ugh...having just sold an SP-5...

not sure if the EA's do this, but one thing i love about programming FR gear is how you can make notes hold w/o programming every step w/ glide. just program a note's starting step, hold that step key and touch the step where you want it to stop.

hey there's even one for sale right now on here. there were TWO but one sold on ebay & the other's no longer for sale. not sure about the ES, but the ESX&EMX have 'pattern assign' to each 16-step key so you can fire off the patterns w/out cycling or selecting with the knob. Also, try holding down S...

does it actually switch from a write to play mode for assignment of sequences to its tabs like the TR's / future retro's? that selection method is so much simpler and more stable than cycling through the electribes. Hmm, not sure if I understand... The patterns are assigned to the keys, and you can...

Hmm, what about the Yamaha RS7000? Actually it's very advanced, but can still be pretty simple. I think it's a fantastic machine (in spite of a few criticisms) that's the only one i spotted on VSE that i thought might be an option...just downloaded its manual, will definitely look into it. does it ...

16 step sampler, alternative to korg ES...

are there any other desktop samplers out there with simple 16 step, hands-on sequence editing other than the korg ES's? picked up a mkII and am liking it, just some aspects i wish were different. i'm basically wishing for a sampler with a setup & interface like a roland TR. simple sample selection, ...

have you check out any hifi audio places or websites...I could see something what your looking for there. any suggestions? don't shop those too often. BSW also has jack. really thinking i'll probably just wind up hitting lowes for some cheap shelves and ordering some more auralex pads, imagine that...

MIDI to DIN SYNC converter

i'd been digging around for a while for a MIDI to DIN SYNC converter to be able to slave my TR-808 to gear that doesn't have a DIN SYNC out. there are several options out there, but the one i went with i am thrilled by. guy in australia is making them, they're simply an adapter that attaches to a mi...

nope, it immediately cuts out once you hit the bypass switch, but what do you expect for a $150 analog delay pedal? thanks. i expect the idiots to make one that keeps ringing! ;) line 6's do that...don't boss delays too? granted neither of those are analogs, but all it takes is having the bypass ha...
