i haven't owned more than a couple vintage drum machines, and i wasn't really a fan of them (and no, they weren't Roland), but there's one cool drum box that stands out to me that isn't really that old, but it's an excellent machine all the same: Kawai XD5.

great find... and super great shot of your cat checking out the missing wheels. thank you. i don't know why she perked up like that. i just went to take a picture and she looked kinda wide-eyed for some reason. Nice find, and I like your cat too. He looks like a cross between 2 of my cats--I have o...

Nova- Everything
Kawai K4- Controller
E-MU XL-7- Sequencer
Casio ht700- Fun
and your ES MkII? i miss mine. it was a lot simpler than my ESX but for some reason, it was also more fun. i loved the "lower fi" output as well. dirty drums that sounded great!

i don't want one, or need one, but i think the camo Korg looks rad. i have a thing for absurdly bad design choices like that, which is also why i like a lot of 80s and 90s electronics. i hope they fail miserably, so i can pick one up on the cheap for a controller in a couple years.

yard sale Alesis QS6: no pitch/mod wheels? no problem!

my latest yard sale find: an Alesis QS6. this was lying amongst some video game stuff on a box. from a distance it looked like one of those Miracle Pianos, but no, an actual synth! she's missing the power supply, the pitch & mod wheels, and she's got one buck tooth, but i think it gives her characte...

rad video, by the way. when i'm not making actual songs, that's about what i do in my studio -- just play some sequenced beats and noodle over the top with my Ion or mK. sadly, i don't have a buddy. i have to rock alone. in that video, what exactly is the guy with the MPC doing? he looks like he's p...

What is it that most of you expect from synths these days? Is it that a synth should cover most sounds relatively well or excel at very specific sounds? i don't care for "all in one" type thinking, even though a lot of my synths are marketed with that as their big selling point. if you can get ever...

i don't know, "this is the internet", as the kids are saying these days. jubilation, contempt, adulation, complaints... they're all valid forms of communication and discussion. that's what we're all doing, speaking our opinions on various subjects. a lot of it happens to be negative, and that's fine...

https://www.stringswing.com/products/product_listing.php?category=13 There you can find the racks that fit into slatwall systems -- just like they use at the music stores. I think that's the way I'm going to go in my basement. Should be pretty nice looking. OT: I see you have a little Goldeneye on ...
