Back to the DX7, have you seen this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lJG6M9Va8c From audio only, I would never say it's the DX7 ;-) A very nice sound, IMO. it's weird. maybe it's because i can hardly hear the rhythm section, but the guy on the DX7 rarely sounds on-beat or in-key for almost th...

The EA-1 would be okay if it had velocity or accents. But it doesn't. If you're cool with that, it might be a good option, but I'm most definitely not. didn't you own an EA-1? like twice? was the accent thing what killed it for you? i must admit, my lack of interest in velocity sensitivity, after t...

sort of like this... That's actually a two-tier and two one-tiers. Later I fitted a Simmons SDS-9 next to the moog. that's kinda what i've got goin' on... mine is a 3-tier A-frame stand mated with a ProLine 2-tier heavy duty. i've actually temporarily removed the 2nd level from the A-frame to get t...

...but I still think Tyranny is one of the best industrial/ebm albums of all time. agreed. it's an amazing album with some really unique stuff going on. i know for sure they were sponsored by Roland, sometime in the mid-nineties. i have an article lying around somewhere in which they discuss the co...

"Aren't those the machines that make you a musician just by pushing one key?" when that comes up, just tell them "yes", and follow it up with you pushing play on your sequencer. when all of the flesh blows off their faces from the siren and roar of your electronic wonders, and they're reduced to a ...

on a related note, i e-mailed a huge list of bands i wanted my brother-in-law to listen to, and here's what he e-mailed back: "i listened to all the bands you sent me the other day. the ones i really liked are..." "...the winner for the worst of all, was front 242. i didnt like them at all lol." kid...

i'm not offended by it or anything, i use that word way more than i should to begin with. just think it's really dumb. know they're not trying to target a wide market , but jeesh... (if that really is the name...) agreed. i'll go out on a limb here and confess that i'm a bit of a prude. i generally...

Thanks for all the response. But to be more specific, I need at least 3 tracks and would prefer TR or grid-type step sequencer (within my under $100 budget). I've noticed Boss Dr Drum Machine sell under $100. I think a Dr5 would do what I need. Does any one know of other Boss Drs that might fit my ...

Would I be doing myself a disservice if my first FM synth was a dx200? this was my first fully programmable FM synth. i now have a couple others, including a DX21, but the DX200 is my fave. personally, i think it's the best hardware FM synth out there, in terms of ease-of-use, size/footprint, featu...
