em-1 will sound c**p next to a well set up command station i think. well, the OP did say it was "for sequencing other devices", and what he described would be pretty much a perfect match for the EM-1's sequencer. a few things to keep in mind about the EM-1: the unit stores a total of 256 patterns. ...

For studio/recording purposes, I'd sooner spend money on something like a UAD-1 card, or other high end software compressor than buying cheap and nasty hardware compressors. i guess it all depends on what type of music you're making. i do mostly electronic/industrial, and most effects and processor...

just as i was about to buy a 3630, i ran across an article about the FMR Audio RNC 1773 ("Really Nice Compressor"). it's the only standalone compressor i've got so i've not much to compare it to, but i agree with every review i've found. i don't even pretend to be a master of compression -- i use it...

Re: Using LFO's as sequencer/trigger - a Tutorial
You can use the LFO's square wave as on/off triggers for the VCA for instance. Use 1 square lfo to modulate OSC1 to pitch by one octave. Use 2. square LFO at half the speed to modulate OSC2 pitch by an octave (or fifth or whatever) and you get a cool sequence chugging along. i have at least one pat...

Re: Build an x0xb0x for a fee?
FR Revo... had one, liked it...but it was too big and uh circular for me. I like the way the x0xbox and bassline 2 work better. funny you mention that. that's been the only downside for me. for one, it's bloody HUGE for what it is. two, the circular thing is distracting, and actually manages to slo...

The Radias is only 4 part multitimbral, same with the Ion and Micron although they're not even really multitimbral as you have to use keyboard splits to access the other timbres and can't use the same note on two timbres, even if they're on seperate midi channels. Not so. Put parts on separate MIDI...

depends on how long of a repetition you're setting the delay for. if it's just providing a couple echoes, it being off tempo won't matter. if you're having it continue to ring for a longer time it will get very messy if it's not lined up w/ the midi tempo. check out a MO-FX. i'm going to buy a seco...

Im sure you could find a lexicon mx200 for that much used arghh.. i just looked it up on Ebay after reading this... one just went off for $117 shipped, and it looked to be in very nice condition, too! i guess i'll try to hold out for one of these. if i had to be picky, i'd want a desktop/pedal unit...

This is a sort of mixed response. Twice, I was given posession of a friend's Yamaha DX21 synthesizer... 3. Its cheap-ass keyboard without touch sensitivity (you'd think that by the time it was made, digital synth engines and touch-sensitive keyboards would be completely synonymous).. at least it ha...

have you considered something with tap tempo like the line6 echopark? also, the adrenilinn has midi sync, but i'm sure it's a bit more my only issue with tap tempo is that it's not as razor-sharp as i'd like when it comes to accuracy -- or, more specifically, i'm not. thanks for the suggestions thu...

I know the Korg Kaoss Pad KP-3 does that, I'm sure the KP-2 does, too. A KP-2 can be had for around $150 these days. Not exactly small, but a fun FX unit: Electrix MoFX. It has distortion, flanger, tremelo & delay all tempo syncable, MIDI or tap. Z the KPs sync to midi tempo? that's awesome. i didn...
