i've read/participated in exactly 17,489 of these "which 99-dollar cans" threads, and there seems to be two choices that by all accounts are each an excellent value: the MDR7506 and the HD280. we're all gonna differ in our preferences somewhat, but there's no denying that both of these sets of 'phon...

If I were to get, say, a korg Electribe-S ES-1, would that be basically all I need to "create" a song on the fly without sequencing it through a software sequencer? Again, I kinda feel like I'm sorta misunderstanding what's what, but I'm curious. Like, I'm thinking sometihng similar to what Owen Pa...

these were the bands i had in mind too. there's "old" synth pop and "new" synth pop, i guess. synth pop brings to mind bands like De/Vision, And One, Melotron, Wave in Head, etc...

i want a 309 for sure, but i'm spreading myself so thin lately! got the ol' birthday comin' up next month, and i can't decide what i'm gonna by mysel-- er, what my wife should get me. ... i was thinking a 309 and some sort of 303 emulator (like a Revolution), or just go crazy and get a Moog L...

the important thing to remember is to have patience and DO NOT GIVE UP. i've seen so many people take an interest in synth playing & programming, only to give up when they realise the effort required to become proficient. it's not "hard", per se... it just takes patience. i only see the microKORG as...

Run kicks through your any of your tribes with absolutely no processing, but the input gain cranked way up. The distortion was actually really nice when i tried this on my ea-1, IMO. this is one of the techniques i'd been using in the past. lately, i've just been putting my ER thru my DS-1. it's no...

I paid ten bucks for it at a thrift store...the thing that caught my eye was the MIDI out...thats when I realized it could be more than a "toy". :D i "discovered" the SHS-10 the same way. i actually picked it up at the swap meet (flea market), tapped the keys a couple times and started to walk away...

Ah, although you can control the MicroKorg via MIDI, there is something to having all of the knobs and buttons on the MS2000R/BR. That's the beauty of of the MS2000 line (versus the MicroKorg and/or simply using the engine as a MIDIed machine). see, that's weird. i kinda went the other way. i owned...

OK Carbon, you've started it and it's on now buddy! 8) Long live the death of the stock SHS-10! I'm afraid it won't be cheap cuz the DIY's that I've found don't quite cut it. But with a little Dr. Frankenstein action I think some interesting things can happen. i demand pics of the finished product ...

That was shortly after it became known that Dangermouse/ Gnarles used/uses one for some reason. that guy in the pic seems to have missed the point! i guess he just wanted it for the internal sounds...? i sold my first SHS-10 about 3-4 years ago -- if i remember correctly, it went for a little...

well, i leveled a few complaints above, but overall, i'd say the pros outweigh the cons, for a wearable keyboard. you found nothing to like about it beyond the pitch wheel?
