the ones ive tried were all pre 2006 and they had what i would consider to be poor tuning on any vintage synth. Did you ever manage to get any of them fully tuned? From what I've read it takes about 5 minutes hitting the auto-tune once or twice. Do you think a 2008/2009 model would have these probl...

That doesn't seem like an all too bad price.

Pretty cool, reminds me of something out of the 80's. So how much does the kit cost?

I've been doing more research and according to numerous reviews the only ones that had the tuning problems were the 2006 batch. If I do choose the Andromeda I'd like to get a brand new one considering I've yet to own one piece of new equipment; excluding my Oxygen that was a Xmas present. Unless I c...

I thought the tuning problem was only with the 2006 batch?

Ye, I was going to say you needed to tell her that SHE couldn't stay. :P

Whose money is it that bought all of your synths? If it was you then she shouldn't be telling you what to do with YOUR money. I've decided I'm never getting married. :)

I'd try looking at Guitar Center. That or you should definitely find one on eBay.

I owned an OBX-a for many years, and just sold it recently. Nothing can compare to the power of the sound in the OB. In unison mode, the thing can crack foundations. BUT... the practicality of it is long dead. It's no longer giggable, reliability is now a MAJOR problem with them. I have had more he...

,I have been tempted in the past for an OB-8,or Xa,but if your going to be rehersing, and transporting back and forth you better give it "Kid Gloves" treatment. That was my other con to the Oberheim. I'd be so scared to ever use it for performance, then again I'd be weary to use either one due to t...

I've played on a Peavey DPM2, it's a digital synth. I wasn't too overwhelmed by it, then again I'm not a fan of digital synths. The construction seemed sturdy being it's entire case was metal. Had few dead keys, guessing due to dirty contacts? For what it was it seemed like a nice synth.

I had considered OB-8. But I feel as if only reason I'm getting the Oberheim is so I can do authentic covers. I feel the A6 would do the covers justice but would also allow me to create my own new sounds and unheard music. Plus the ungodly amount of advantages of the A6.

Thanks hogberto. You make me edge towards the A6 even more now. :P

I just found some videos on YouTube and OMG is it amazing! I guess I wasn't searching right the other day or what, but WOW. I'd still feel better about testing it before buying it though.

Reliability and ever decreasing amount of parts is what's scaring me away from the Oberheim. Jack, your statement at the end is pretty much hitting the nail on the head. Logic says to get the A6, but my heart says OB-Xa... I'm just afraid if I don't try and get an Oberheim now they'll just continue ...
