I've played on a Peavey DPM2, it's a digital synth. I wasn't too overwhelmed by it, then again I'm not a fan of digital synths. The construction seemed sturdy being it's entire case was metal. Had few dead keys, guessing due to dirty contacts? For what it was it seemed like a nice synth.

I had considered OB-8. But I feel as if only reason I'm getting the Oberheim is so I can do authentic covers. I feel the A6 would do the covers justice but would also allow me to create my own new sounds and unheard music. Plus the ungodly amount of advantages of the A6.

Reliability and ever decreasing amount of parts is what's scaring me away from the Oberheim. Jack, your statement at the end is pretty much hitting the nail on the head.
