However, you can only spend up to a total of $5000. You may not spend more than half of that amount on any one single synth , Those rules pretty much mandate one of the Evolver series as one of the synths Or: Waldorf Wave Q+ Well you pretty much broke your own rule with those two synths. The PPG Wa...

What to buy? Tracker Software, Interface, Computer
OK, so I sold off a bunch of stuff and ready to get serious about recording again after a LONG break. I'm an old school guy, used to hardware only (tape, mixers, hardware synths & sequencers, etc.), so I want to keep this system as user freindly as possible. My current set up includes a lot of synth...

But you need an analogue/digital hybrid. OK...

JX-1 ? I'm not familiar with the sound. But the looks are horrible. Anyone played it ? Yeah, these came out in the early 90's when I worked at GC. It was basically a ROMpler in a flashy case trying to revive the "rocker" keyboard market. Has nothing to do with the original JX line. I don't remember...

If it's pulse trigger gear, I bet the Garfield Electronics Mini Doc could do it. Maybe even a Roland SBX-10 or 80. It is also my understanding that Korg's DIN sync runs at 48ppq as opposed to Rolands @ 24ppg. Maybe you can make a Roland run faster with a Korg sync signal. I dunno. Has anyone ever tr...

The Roland M-480 (6 space rack) has Master & Sub assign buttons instead of mutes. When you press the appropriate button, it sends it to that bus. If neither are pressed, that channel goes nowhere (essentially muted). Howver, I think the pre-fader sends are assigned to the main bus. The CUE buttons a...

As far as I know, the MAQ 16/3 is 3 monophonic tracks which can be used for any "control voltage" including pitch, filter, etc. You could have a 3 note chord with each note on a seperate track. Someone correct me if I'm mistaken. Right on.. thats exactly what i'm planning as a hopeful option and wh...

The Mobius has ceased production and there are no more left now. However the Elektron Monomachine can offer you 64 steps and 6-tracks of sequencing power and poly too (if you want to construct chords). That's good to know. I'll be looking into a MonoMachine in the future. The 6 tracks are polyphoni...

Production of the Mobius has ceased. They did come up for sale on eBay quite a bit in the past, but I bet their prices will start to go up in the future. Yes, the Modius is monophonic, but I beleive most step sequencers of the same variety are also monophonic. I have only been back into this elecron...

The secondary percussionist in my old band used one. I thought the onboard sounds were pretty corny, but as a midi controller I'm sure it would be fine. The Octapads (PAD-8 & PAD-80) are percussion controllers only, with no onboard sounds. In the early 90's, Roland introduced the SPD-8, which DID h...
