Re: Quick question about Microbrute

I know Stabby was suggesting 50/50 mix as opposed to 100% wet, but he is right about making it 50/50 in order to hear the echos distinctly. I've always used 100% wet for a completely washed out sound. I only listened to the first track and it sound like they're using a polyphonic synth. I make a qui...

Re: Quick question about Microbrute

The Strymon BigSky and Eventide Space are 2 great pedals for ambient sounds. Those are some great recommendations thanks:) I'm loving the Eventide Space. Can't afford these at the moment unfortunately. Have you tried them both? Yes, I own both. Don't ask which is better because they both have their...

Re: Akai ax60, only 3 of 6 voices playing

Ah! It must have been a MIDI loop. The MIDI OUT must have been going back into the MIDI IN, so the AX60's keyboard is playing 3 notes and transmitting the MIDI data and the MIDI IN was playing the other 3 notes.

Glad you got it figured out.

Re: Akai ax60, only 3 of 6 voices playing

Yeah, not sure why playing a 4th voice would rob one of the notes already being played. If there was an issue with the VCF or VCA, then that 4th voice would just be silent while the other 3 notes are playing.

I'm no tech, but kinda sounds like a software (the synth's processor, that is) problem.

Re: Akai ax60, only 3 of 6 voices playing

Not sure how to help you, but the AX60's split options are:

0-6
2-4
4-2
6-0

Although, you can put the upper or lower parts in UNISON. Back in the 80s, my favorite split was 2-4 with the lower (bass) in unison.

Re: Looking for these two sounds, pulling my hair out!

The bell pad reminds me of the "Fantasia" preset on the Roland D-50. The wood block just just as well be a sampled wood block. I know what you mean about the Fantasia preset! Know of any soft synths that could provide that? Sorry, I don't use softsynths. I'm hardware only. The Roland D-50 "Fantasia...

Those examples sound like an overdriven TB-303 to me, not a Wavestation.

Re: Best synth basslines of all time?

Beastie Boys "Shake Your Rump" (I have not idea what that is... distorted Mini?) Doesn't sound like a Moog since most Moogs only have low-pass filter Someone else mentioned a guitar synth. Here's a cool bassline played on ARP Avatar by ...

Re: How do I make this synth commonly used sound!!?

Now sure which sound you're looking for in the Tinashe song, but the lead sound on the Swiss Beats song is a simple saw wave with portamento. Someone on the "Synthesizer Freaks" FaceBook group was asking how to make a similar sound last year, so I made a quick video using my SH-101. At about 1:25 in...

Re: Why does the Roland Synth Plus series exist?

The "home" market. I've owned several HS-60s and still own a HS-80 (alpha Juno 2 with speakers and new slick, black chassis). Both the HS-60 & HS-80 has external audio inputs for mixing an external source with the synth though the speakers and main out. Not sure what's up with the HS-10 since it's a...
