there's also a Character Palette that is always available in the Edit menu of the Finder in OS X, the analog of Character Map but different than the Keyboard Viewer.

i think my prophecy for why you're purging your gear was correct! i've been putting serious thought into doing the exact same thing.

too many hybrids on this list already, though. my money is with the Eµ UltraProteus, 288 morphable z-plane filters.
