Re: Hard Drive Space Not Showing OSX Snow Leopard

Well, i can account for at least 4GB of that hard drive space then- expanded swap file. (call it swap file, call it virtual memory, call it what you like, OSX still has one) Why would it increase in size when you install MORE ram though? usually the swap file is used when there isn't enough ram to ...

Re: Looking at Virus Indigo 2 or Radias?

Mostly agree with those points, but it is useful to note that the supernova is always somewhat smooth.. it has a certain glassy smooth character that while sounding amazing, cannot easily be escaped.

Re: machinedrum quantization?

for the record that's not turning quantization off, it's changing the time signature..

most step sequencers can't turn off quantization, but most can change the time signature.

Re: Grooveboxes: Roland MC505/Korg EMX-1/Yamaha RM1x

Most has been covered already.. I think you need to decide how big you want to go - The EMX is a fun and good box - can make a track with it fine - but after a while you will feel somewhat limited if that's all you have. If you got the EMX a good way to expand on it would be to get the ESX next.. Yo...

I like Switch

I also recommend a batch renaming utility to rename your files 00.wav->99.wav

Re: Question About Samplers...

If you just want to take samples of the classic TR's + other classic machines I would recommend an electribe ES-1 or ESX - then you get the classic TR style sequencing as well.

But then later on you stated that you want 2 gigs of samples which is too much for the electribes

That's the same thing they do for selling game accounts for Eve Online - $500 postcard of iceland with username and password written on the back of it.

Re: Cyclotron - Andromeda + Alchemy

I like this! those are some really nice crispy high sounds you have, they contrast well with the warm and slippery bassier sound.. Made me imagine a kind of super-industrial cyberpunk city opening to a movie The highest freqencies of the offbeat hihat sound is getting to me a bit(i think its part of...

Re: Roland GAIA Editor--end of free software?

No I haven't bought the editor for the tetra.. I tried the free version out and honestly I see no need to upgrade - I dont use the editor much anyway, I prefer to use the actual synth + a midi controller if I'm getting really deep into designing a sound. A point I'd like to make about the cost of th...
