Re: synths: more with less OR less with more?
Having been at both ends of the spectrum, I'd say try to hit a point where you have as little gear as functionally possible. I'm currently at a point where I have more gear than I've ever had, and my workrate certainly isn't reflecting that at the moment. You'll also rarely push your gear out of its...

Re: Jupiter 8 Sold for £375!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Heh, I tend to avoid these kinda threads, 'cause they almost always devolve to spurious braggadocio ala "I FOUND A MOOG FOR 9 CENTS AT AN OLD WOMAN'S YARD SALE" (or judicious name-dropping for some). Honestly, if you're in it for the long haul, as long as you're smart and not terribly impulsive abou...

Re: Roland TR-707 vs. Korg DDD-1
Own 'em both, and while I'm a 707 (and 727) fan, I'd say DDD-1 'cause it's crazy underrated. However, to be fair, the DDD-1 really only shines when you've got a sampling board and a crapload of cards to swap and the golden days of finding cheapish cards (or even finding them at all) dried up a few y...

Roland buttons (JP-4, CR-78, ProMars, TR-77, et al)
Arrgh, why are these so difficult to find, exactly ... Roland used these throughout their product line over the years. Anyway, I need 3 of them for two different restoration projects, and silencing the completist nerd in me, I'll take any color. Worst case, this quest might have to be my personal en...

Re: Micromoog appreciation thread
Another micromoog owner/fan here. Sent mine in for a complete overhaul by Mike Bucki about a decade ago ... took 'em forever, but it's been rock solid since. Funny that micro prices have barely budged in the past 10 years as well too. Just do NOT understand that. Also own a multimoog that I'll be lu...

Re: "Lucky Star" Bass-line
Related: I recall a Nile Rodgers interview once where IIRC he said the "Like A Virgin" bass is double tracked .. one normal, the other a suboscillator track mixed quietly below that ... or something to that effect.
