Re: What Synth(s) Would You Use for Synthetic Drums?
I use a Futureretro XS.
You can get some really good, drum machine standard percussion from it...
Although you need to sample it, or own a few to use it for multiple voices...
Wait, does that not count?

Re: 909, 808, 303 - Worth it?
We should all just admit to ourselves that the only reason the prices went up is because people found out we wanted them... Not because they're worth that much... ;) ie. "Ive noticed those roland box things are quite expensive on this ebay like... Are they really worth that much" :-| "Not ...

Re: 909, 808, 303 - Worth it?
I just hate the way the price rises due to desirability. I know a lot of people get them cheap and then sell for silly amounts and that's what makes me say they're not really worth it. Especially if your just a musician and not particularly a user of drum machines etc. The funny thing is though. I'v...

Re: 909, 808, 303 - Worth it?
I don't think any of them are worth it. But it's the only way to get one nowadays. I think xoxbox can be adecent sub for the 303, although they're are some differences. But the 808 has no real alternative, and the 909 doesn't either in my opinion. I got a jomox 999 a while back and just didn't feel ...

True. Although I find him annoying it is a catchy enough tune.

That's because as with all Mark ronson songs. It's not genuine. It's just a gimmick to sell records.

Re: analog delay comparison
for anyone interested, The mf104z demo I recorded, goes through short mode first, and then switches to long mode about half way through the recording (you'll notice the repeats arent as bright), then I just go into self oscillation in both modes. One thing I didnt do was overdrive the input, which c...

Re: Tom Oberheim SEM or Future Retro XS
The XS will cover the ground of a lot of synths, and some drum machines.... Of the two you mentioned, the XS will have a broader range of sounds, but the filter dosent sound particularly great, whereas Ive heard good things about the oberheim filter. It's a tough choice considering what you already ...

Found a great deal on an MPC 2000XL with 8 outputs and full RAM. I won the auction at $305. Hooray ebay!

Re: What are these drumsynths worth nowadays?
With the price you have in mind it would be better to get a sampler and have all these eeprom machines as kits/programs. The price of some of them is quite high and based purely on nostalgia in most cases, and although the machines can have a sound that cant be replicated exactly (the linndrum hi ha...

Re: "Jungle Fever" Techno/Rave/oldschool ;) WIP
Good solid track. As far as the mix goes, Id maybe add some slight high end to some of the sounds, particularly the pad like sounds that occur in the background, but only a subtle amount. Also if possible try panning some of the lighter percussion outwards a bit for a more stereo effect, as at the m...
