Maybe the key contacts are dirty.
Do both oscillators exhibit the same symptoms? The Odyssey is duophonic, so that would mean the keyboard generates two CVs, there are two S&H circuits, etc.

Re: Hazardous asbestos in old synthesizers?
Well, the various asbestos web sites mention that insulation was used on wiring in things like popcorn makers, irons, coffe machines, hair driers, etc.. Notice one thing in common about those items? They are all heating appliances, which need heat-proof insulation. Asbestos was used in those types ...

Re: Swapping out all six juno voices?
If you calibrate the voices properly, they shouldn't make your patches sound different. Maybe subtly so, but nothing earth shattering. That said, if you only replace some of the chips with clones, and they sound different from the originals, then some notes will sound different from others. With 6 c...

Re: New to Keyboards and bought a Roland D-50
The factory patches are all over the 'net, they were originally on a card called PN-D50-00 thru 04. Pizzagogo (and most of the other famous presets) are on the 00 card. The Linear.zip file on analogkid.us/Patches has them, and a zillion others too. You'll need a sysex utility such as MIDI-OX to load...

How many submissions are there so far? (Ballpark figure is fine). 0-10, 11-20, etc. Just curious.

I noodled up that melody on a toy keyboard 25 years ago, believe it or not.

Nice demo Heath. It's different and unique from what I usually hear from Oberheims. Those SEMs sound sweet.

Re: vintage leads
It's either saw or pulse, probably saw, with vibrato and the filter closing slightly via an envelope on each note. Best thing to do is experiment. Synth sounds often sound different in a mix than when you listen to them by themselves too, plus there's effects such as delays, reverb and chorus that m...

Re: so what happens when we cant get curtis chips no more?
One doesn't necessarily have to clone the chip die itself either, someone could design a mini PCB with SMD components that do the same thing and fit into the IC socket. Much like the Juno-106 clone chips. They aren't chips at all, just mini PCBs with multiple chips. But then, the original Juno chips...

Someone will probably clone them.

I just created a new piece. Took me 25 years.
I originally came up with the melody/arpeggio part in 1984. It was inspired by a girl in my high school class. I finally built a piece around it.
There's a lot of Andromeda in it.

Re: becoming a Substractive Synthesis Wizard
A Micron isn't the easiest synth to be learning on, due to its limited interface. Maybe get a knobby synth such as an old Juno or an Ion (which is a bigger, knobbier version of the Micron), so you can tweak the knobs individually and see how they affect the sound. Or if you aren't up to buying more ...

That's like asking what is the best motor vehicle ever...
Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks.
If there was a "best synth", that's what everyone would have.
Best analog synth? Digital? Mono? Poly? FM? Additive? Vector?

Re: Current Recording Artists Who Use Classic Synths
Chromeo also has a Pro-One and a Juno-60, you can see them in their Bonafide Lovin' video. IIRC there's a Micromoog on the Fancy Footwork album cover or liner notes somewhere, one of the synths with the woman's legs sticking out of it.
