Re: Remaking "Staccato Heaven" Patch for SQ-80
Probably the best way is to dissect Staccato Heaven's partials on a D-50/550 and then recreate them individually on the SQ-80, at least as close as you can. If you don't have a D-50 handy, maybe someone could record the partials separately for you. I could do it, if time permits, maybe tonight (if t...

Re: my little new friend (maximicrokorg?) se-1 + microkorg
Nice job!
Are you mixing the outputs of the two synths somehow or are you just leaving their outputs separate?
If you haven't thought of this yet, maybe stick a midi merger in there so you can control both the MK and SE-1 from an external controller/sequencer/computer/etc.

Re: Thompson Twins Doctor Doctor! synths
There is a Prophet 5 and an OB-Xa clearly visible in the video.
During the solo section it looked like the Xa needed new key bushings.
Don't know about the DX7, but in 1984, didn't every song have one?

Re: A Warm synth instrumental!
Very nice! Did you use Synth1 on this one too? Definitely some Roland digital in there, D50 or JD series. I love those sounds.

Re: Back due to popular demand, the synthquiz!
Well I could tell right off the bat it was a mono, so that rules out the Prophet 5 and Juno 60. I watched some youtube videos of the MS20, CS30 and Odyssey, and the MS20 videos' sound come closest to the sound of this clip. So I voted MS20. While I was playing the CS30 video, my wife walked by and s...

Re: 80s Synth Montage Instrumental Using Synth 1!
WOW. I love the sounds.
All that from a free VST. I may have to try it out.
Apparently Synth1 emulates the Nord Lead 2.

Re: Korg PolySix - Irratic Behaviour
I've never owned/played with a "vector" synth, but I always wondered if vector synthesis entailed more than just mixing 4 parts with a joystick. Considering that the D-50 had a joystick which could be used to mix the 4 partials, but it was never considered a vector synth. But, if it's just mixing/cr...

Re: Name the synth quiz
I guessed CS80, looks like it's the most popular guess. It had a Vangelis-like quality to it. My 2nd guess would have been OB-X. It didn't sound like a P5 at all, and I haven't heard enough Memorymoog samples to get a feel for the way it sounds (watch it be that!!) EDIT: Ugh... I posted my guess wit...

Re: If you had to
I'd keep my Motif XS and Andromeda. They're the most flexible pieces in my setup, and when it comes down to keyboards vs. rackmounts, the keyboards always win.
I'd hate to part with my 80s vintage rackmounts though.

Re: Mono lfo -or- individual lfo???
I think the OP was referring to LFOs that run independently for each voice of polyphony as opposed to a single LFO affecting all voices equally. The MK lets you do it either way by setting the LFO key sync parameter. Either way has its uses, which is why synths that have "polyphonic" LFOs generally ...

Re: dx11 battery type?
Ahh... the boards are upside down (components are on the other side), so you'll have to remove the board to spot the battery. It's probably on the large board in your "right side" pic.

Re: dx11 battery type?
Take a pic of the boards and post 'em up.
The battery is usually the size/shape of a quarter, if it's a CR2xxx type battery. Here's a pic of the battery in an Andromeda, just to give you an idea of what to look for:

Re: Jupiter 6 help (locked up)
I'd start with that battery. The voltage should be 3+ volts.
Otherwise, the problem is probably the CPU board, which is the board the battery is on.
