Re: First synth to allow "naming" of patches?
The PPG Wave was a few years before that and it had a huge LCD screen. But I don't know if you could name patches on it. Never played one.

Re: Is this Download song a Korg Prophecy preset? (listen)
I'm guessing the Prophesy and Z1 have a editable Arp in it that allows you to make velocity accented patterns like this. They have the coolest arpeggiator ever. Well, Korg called it an arpeggiator but it was more like the repeating step sequencer in the Evolver because you could program each step i...

Re: Has anyone poly chained little phatties???!!!
Yeah, $800 is not uncommon for a used one, especially if it is an original Stage model. People always want the latest version. I can do without USB though.

Re: Is this Download song a Korg Prophecy preset? (listen)
Well, you're right, probably not a preset. But I'm sure stikygum heard something very similar on the Prophecy because it has a very distinct sound and it was used a lot on that record. They had one on stage for the tour too.maindeglorie wrote:The guy has never used a preset as far as I know.

Re: Is this Download song a Korg Prophecy preset? (listen)
Probably. Cevin Key used the Prophecy a LOT on Download records, especially The Eyes of Stanley Pain. I had a Z1 around that time and I recognized "that sound" all over Download records.

Re: Where is the Obligatory New DSI product leak?????
Thats exactly why he won't make a tetra keyboard, nobody would ever buy the prophet 08 ever again. So? Discontinue the P'08. I'd guess a Tetra Keyboard would be in the $1,300 - $1,400 range. I bet he'd sell a lot more 4 voices at that price compared to 8 voices of P'08 at $2,000. And 49 keys with t...

There are two at NAMM, one yellow and one black. Dave said he is taking votes on the color.

Re: Moving on from analogue
But there is something different about real analog when you start to get a lot of modulation in the sound, it just sounds better to me. If I may expand on this, because of the "always on" and slightly drifty nature of VCO's, when you start layering tracks of the same patch on top of one another, wi...

...VA is as good as RA, mostly better. ...Nord Lead 2x- Even though there's no LCD, this synth has a great user interface. I agree about VA for 90% of typical sounds. Re: Where is the Obligatory New DSI product leak?????
That's exactly why it matters, people would be willing to give up the extra four voices for the sake of the keyboard and Tetra keyboard sales would take away from P08 rack sales. Keeping it at a different price point keeps things simple from a marketing point of view. I don't quite buy that logic. ...

Re: Where is the Obligatory New DSI product leak?????
Not really surprised, a tetra keyboard would be to close in price to the P08 module and keyboard, a Mopho keyboard could sit nicely around the $799-$999 mark depending on the number of controls, which would open up a new segment of the market to DSI. I don't think that matters. If they were the sam...

Re: Where is the Obligatory New DSI product leak?????
A Tetra KPE would be perfect for me. (Keyboard Pot Edition) 49 or 61 keys, real potentiometers. 4 voices will be fine, to keep the price down. EDIT: I'll take that one step further. Put a Tetra board inside a keyboard that essentially resembles the old Prophet 5. Direct access to all the main parame...

Re: What was the worst synthesizer you ever owned?
My biggest mistake was my very first purchase: Alesis Quadrasynth Plus. I wound up doing a lot with it, and I wouldn't really say it was "bad". But it turned out to be bad for me because it didn't have resonant filters. That was the "sound" I was after when I decided to buy a synth, but I didn't und...
