Re: On board effects
Korg have a tendency to swamp their presets in copious amounts of Reverb. funny, i find Roland to be the reigning champ in this regard. maybe they all do it. It's something all the big three do! Yamaha did not seem to do this as much in my experience, but I think that it was what ultimately disench...

Re: Korg MS-50: relevance in today's market?

My beef with sequencing is that it seems to take away from the nuance.

You think so? I think it gives it a more raw sound. The DX21 gets my vote as the best 4 op. synth.

Re: Anybody here using a fixed filter bank?
Esus, does this module look like it would have the same functionality as the Moog 914, or am I thinking of the wrong thing? Is this anything like string filter Wendy Carlos used? Here's the 914 from the Moog Archives site: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3098/3151688324_495dd3908d_o.jpg I think Roge...

Re: Anybody here using a fixed filter bank?
I was wondering about this myself, whether it was something I would in my Dotcom. http://www.synthesizers.com/q127l.jpg Hear this: http://www.synthesizers.com/sounds/q127a.mp3 Esus, does this module look like it would have the same functionality as the Moog 914, or am I thinking of the wrong thing? ...

Re: Korg MS-50: relevance in today's market?
clavier, im talking about overall tone, which is the same regardless of how its triggered. i just dont think the newer modules ive got sound as good as the vintage stuff. I did not mean to say that in a condescending manner. I do, however feel that the use of a sequencer does not very accurately po...

This dual sequencer complement is the best I've come across. Great for all types of music:

Re: you're killing me! (inexpensive sold craigslist gear)
Last Monday a grandma posted a best offer ad for a working SCI Prophet 5 here in Reno. Turns out some guy named Hank Woods 'took that old hunk of junk' off her hands for free, then immediately turned around and posted it for sale for $4500. What a gent! :? I missed that by a few hours. :o I also rec...

The Yamaha GX-1 is already pretty much everything I have ever wanted in a synth. I'll just take one of those.
