Re: If software synths had occured BEFORE hardware synths ..
It's not like knobs 'n faders are exclusive to hardware synths. Just anyone who wants to control anything may choose a device that features a 1-dimensional motion. I mean, heck, even your microwave has a knob to set the time and another to set the intensity. Does that microwave owe its knobs to Rob...

Re: What Synth(s) Would You Use for Synthetic Drums?
The Vermona DRM might hold your interest if you are looking for a tweakable analog drum machine. You didn't read the opening post, did you? I'm not looking for a tweakable analog drum machine. cheers, Ian Ok, I've read the original post again and you mention also the applications made for that type...

Re: A New Instrument
I would rather say that it's a new interface rather than a new instrument. But I am quite impressed. For once, you get something else than a continuous rhythm.

Re: Poll: What's your favorite 2-pole, -12db/oct. filter?
The lpf reminds the sound of things heard through water (or amniotic liquid). The notch filter+lfo modify sounds as the wind does (lie phaser fx). We tend to prefer effects that inconscioulsy recall us natural events.

Re: Poll: What's your favorite 2-pole, -12db/oct. filter?
Usually, I use very little resonnance, except on my Roland SH-1000. The resonnance on it is incredebly musical and can sound very different depending on the other parameters. I never encountered such a nice resonnance elsewhere. About the multiple band filter, I've been tempted by the Moog MURF, but...

Re: Poll: What's your favorite 2-pole, -12db/oct. filter?
So true. I whish companies could start making things differently by using various analog technologies in a portable oddball package, just like the VCS3: continuous multimode filter, multiple bpf (w. step pattern), spring reverb, ringmod, different wafeforms...

Re: Poll: What's your favorite 2-pole, -12db/oct. filter?
I always liked the filters on the PPG Wave which are CEM3320's (which strictly is 24dB/oct) - same as the Elka Synthex (god I want one!!). I adore early hybrids. Why does it all have to be strictly analog? The combination of cold crunch and warm filters is wonderful. I think that the secret of the ...
