Re: looking to buy my first HW synth, advice needed
well that is kind of where I am at. one thing that would be a freakin awesome boon for me is if it could plug into reason and let me use a knob/slider or two instead of a mouse. Yeah. I'm not sure if this is possible with the Electribes. I have a Yamaha RS7000 which lets you do this, but it's a bit...

Re: looking to buy my first HW synth, advice needed
riverman; While the SH-32 certainly can be sequenced from a computer, it's still cooler to be able to do everything in one box ;) That's my opinion, at least. But there aren't that many options, I guess. Yamaha's AN200 has one VA part and 3 drums. Korg's Electribe boxes could be an alternative, the ...

Roland V-Synth and Yamaha RS7000. Though the synth section in the RS7000 isn't awesome, it still has some neat tricks up its sleeve. And with its sequencer it makes an excellent combination with the V.

Let me also just state that Reaper is a wonderful prog
I use it as my main sequencer.

pneuman;
Of the options you list, I'd go for the Blofeld. Of course if you do need the extra keyboard features the X-Station offer, maybe you should consider this seriously. But for me it's a no-brainer; the Blofeld offers so many cool features it's truly mouth watering.

Re: Access Virus A vs. Virus B
the arp itself is already very 'programmable' on the hardware, you have a bunch of set patterns which you can manipulate the tempo, swing, and note length of (much more than just up down random etc...) but if you use viruscontrol you can program your own arpeggiator Thanks for the input, Joey. Is t...

Re: Recording from DS-10?
Haha, it's a lower spec Samson USB mic with an audio line in for recording guitars. Cam, you probably should get yourself a better sound card and record directly from the headphones to a jack in on the soundcard. When using a decent cable, the sound should be quite good. Mind you, the DS sound qual...

Re: Access Virus A vs. Virus B
From what I understand, it isn't possible to program ones own arp patterns until the TI series... Is this correct? I'm getting ready to pick up an Access synth myself, but would like to be able to program arps. Any other good options here? I know the Novation Nova has a programmable arp, how does it...

j fish; I'd also take a closer look at the Korg M3 if I was you. Though it lacks some of the efx power of the Motif XS and Fantom G, its efx still offer more flexible routing. I don't have much first hand experience with its sequencer, but from what I've read it may very well proove a lot more flexi...

Re: Akai MPC 500 vs MPC 1000, and some other questions
In fact - many of your questions could be answered simply by downloading the manual for the given machine and reading it. For real. I've done it. (Not cover to cover or anything - just the sections where I was curious about whatever...) That's true... but at the same time this whole forum would be ...

Some Casio keyboard. My first 'professional' box was the Yamaha rm1x.

Re: Native Instruments Maschine
It looks very cool indeed, but it would have to be workable as a standalone unit for me to be buying it. Anyone know more about this?
