Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!
I have no experience with the MPC's, so can't comment on how intuitive it is, but yes to all your other questions. If you do indeed go for an MPC, I guess there are basically two options for you: the MPC1000 and the MPC500. I would personally go for the MPC1000, but the battery powered operation on ...

Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!
Regarding the MPC's, none of them has any actual sounds inbuilt (correct me if I'm wrong). And from what I hear, sequencing on the MPC500 can be very tedious with a lot of menu diving. But maybe it could be a nice solution if you coupled it with a portable little synth? I saw a really awesome video ...

Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!
Like I said on my XXL-size post, I am looking for something that allows me to make some music - or at least some parts of it - on-the-go. Like on job breaks, the beach, at bed at night, etc. It really doesn't have to be a all-in-one system, like the workstations you said. It can be several pieces o...

Re: Help me out before my head goes 'boom'!
Modular; I think you might want to look at one of the big workstations; Yamaha Motif XS, Roland Fantom G or Korg M3. If money is tight, you could look for some of their earlier models. Personally I'm really not sure which one of these I'd want. The M3 is cheapest it seems, so in these financially tr...

Re: Is there a modern DX7 or Trinity Pro?
Anthony K: You should perhaps take a closer look at the Motif or better, the Motif ES; they can be expanded with a dx and an card, thereby giving you both a dx7, virtual analogue AND a very nice ROMpler. Plus you get sampling, effects, arpeggiators and sequencing too. A cheaper solution could be the...

I'm not saying I don't want it to happen, all I'm saying is that it probably won't. But as you say, some smaller company may do it if they see there's a market for them.

Re: Are people still using Hardare Samplers?
And this could be a reason for manufacturers to make hardware samplers again; in these days of remakes of vintage synths, I think it´s just a question of time til we see a 8 or 12 bit hardware sampler with large memory on the market. I strongly doubt that will happen. But a sampler with the ability...

Very cool. But I'd prefer the Blofeld. Actually saw it for the first time today. Sadly it wasn't hooked up, and I was in a hurry, but it felt great!

Re: advice sought on hardware sequencer...
i like that the RS7000 has everything in one place because i will need a sampler and a synth and a sequencer, but most people do not seem particularly excited about any one component of the unit (besides the sequencer). The RS7000 is a machine I would seriously consider if I were you. The synth eng...

Re: Winter NAMM 09 flood begins
Can anyone point me to a website that gives full coverage of NAMM? I was looking at the press releases at Harmony Central, but noticed that several big companies were missing. No mention of either Roland nor Native Instruments, to mention a couple. Any good reason for this? Btw: NI presented a groov...

Re: The Future Sound Of London - ISDN
There was also an interview with FSOL in Future Music a couple of years ago; their kit list is huge, but it seems samplers are essential. They're also moving more and more towards software, and rarely fire up the vintage gear (as I can recall from the interview, anyways - I'll see if I can dig it up...
