Re: Roland MSV-1 Vintage Synth Module
I had it for a while and IIRC it has the same sounds as the Vintage Synths card plus some rhythm sounds. I liked it just fine but I already had the Vintage Synths card so I sold it several years ago.

Re: 90's Roland Keyboard Midi How to get Hammond B3 sound?
I think a module, especially for live use would be the simpler solution. There will be audio outputs on the module that you can connect to your amp with 1/4" plugs/cables for the audio. The MIDI connection will be how you connect your existing keyboard to the module to play the module's sounds. You...

Re: 90's Roland Keyboard Midi How to get Hammond B3 sound?
The user guide/manual is badly written and has not been very helpful. Typical of Roland manuals IMO. As Sir Nose said though, you could simply connect the MIDI OUT port on your JW 50 to the MIDI IN port of a MIDI module to use the module's sounds while controlling/playing it with your JW 50 keyboar...

Re: 90's Roland Keyboard Midi How to get Hammond B3 sound?
I'm not sure how old your Roland keyboard but it if it's from the early 90's or newer than there's a good chance that it could be expanded with the: SR-JV80-08: 60s & 70s Keyboards Exp. Board Features The SR-JV80-08 wave expansion board features many of the coveted vintage organ and electric piano ...

Re: who uses keyboard workstation
Do any other workstations offer this feature? Being a Motif user I'm (blissfully?) unaware of what Fantom, Triton, Oasys, M3, etc. offer. The E-Mu Proteus 2000 family of synths, although not workstations, have the user arp feature. IIRC they are 32 step and repeated notes in a row only use one step.

Re: Any forums for the Novation KS series?
There were a couple of things I couldn't figure out, maybe you know... Are there seperate envelopes for the osc's, or do they share the same one? And: is it possible to get the lfo's to control other stuff than pitch and filter? It seems that lfo1 is hard locked to controlling pitch, and lfo2 to fi...

Re: I just grabbed a FIZMO!!!
Nice! One thing that struck me especially on the first two videos is that the Yamaha DX200 can make some similar sounds - The Yamaha "free EG" feature helps with the evolving sounds. I know it's a completely different form of synthesis and I'd guess it's a lot more straightforward to get those soun...

Re: DWGS vs "normal" Samples OSCs
I think I remember reading that some of the waves used in Korg's DWGS were created with additive synthesis, sampled, and then stored (in the EX8000 for example). Feel free to correct me if that isn't right - My memory isn't the greatest.

Re: Let's talk about strings, baby
I second (third? :) ) What Jackspider said: "Have the keyboard track the LFOs, so that the LFO rate is faster on high notes slower on low notes" If you have a synth that will let you do this then that is key because otherwise, to have the PWM fast enough to sound optimal on higher notes, it will sou...

Re: Sounds made easy : SR-JV80-04 and 08
Where they failed the most were in the D-50, JX, & Juno emulations. I thought the same thing about the D-50 preset patches on the JV-1080/JV-1010 sounding better than they did on the earlier Vintage Synths expansion card. Having said that, I think the Roland Vintage Synths card is a good expansion ...

Re: Pink noise vs White Noise
The way I think of it is that with pink noise each octave has an equal amount of noise power while with white noise each frequency has an equal amount of noise power. That's why pink noise doesn't sound as high pitched because for each octave rise, the frequency doubles so the same amount of noise p...

Re: DSI Mopho and Evolver: Do I need both?
Otherwise, are the analog oscillators/analog filter the same hardware? The interface on the evolver looks more my style - The mopho is ok until I have to scroll through 30 pages to find something, but i'm learning where stuff is. I had read that Dave Smith tweaked the filter a bit for the Prophet08...
