Re: Yamaha - enemies of synthsis!
One thing I'll add praising past Yamaha synths is the Yamaha AN virtual analog synths. The AN1X was one of the earliest hardware VAs that I can think of after the Nord Lead I but I'd still say that to my ear the AN synths are among the most organic-sounding I've heard. (...although the limited inte...

Re: Blofeld update suggestions
I just got my Blofeld on Thursday and am only about half-way through the presets but what I was immediately stuck by was how much more "spacious" it sounded than my Micro-Q did and definitely more so than my early model Microwave II that doesn't even have reverb! :) I thought the delay fx I heard o...

Re: Help deciding a beginner Synthesizer?
The Roland SH-201 would have been my recommendation just so that for your first synth you could have a straightforward interface and easy editing/tweaking. I think that is the most important thing to liking the synth hobby early on. My first synth was a Novation A-Station which I'd say is a pretty s...

Re: One is not enough!
A Wave 2.2 and 2.3 and three Microwave 1 modules. Here's the 2.2 (2.3 is in my office at the moment) with LP #15 and some 'foogers. The other pic is only two of the MW units - the other rev A is in the office as well (both are there for a project needing wavetable sounds). I was excited about my bl...

Re: yamaha dx200 tell me about it
I had read somewhere that the skipped first note of the sequence only happened in unison mode (4 voice on the DX200). I might have to test this out on mine to see if that's the case or not.

Re: Redsound Darkstar XP2
Here is the Darkstar XP2 announcement from March 2002 at harmonycentral.com: "Sound announces a hot new version of its acclaimed DarkStar analog-modelling synthesizer, DarkStar XP2. The heart of the original DARKSTAR remains unchanged - stunning modelled analog sounds faithfully recreating vintage a...

Re: yamaha dx200 tell me about it
The issue I see with the DX200 is the lack of a proper computer editor. And if I remember well, it didn't work well with win XP. I liked the computer editor that was included with it and had no problems using it with Windows XP...just my $0.02 though. The one odd thing I about the editor is that wh...

Re: 'Best of Breed' for Rompler Expansion ROMs...
For the Proteus 2000, the hypothetical keyboard player should get the Techno Synth Construction Yard ROM for electronic and dance sounds. I've heard a lot of the P2000 ROMs and IMO the TSCY is head and shoulders above the others in terms of overall sample quality. (One caveat to this is the Solina s...

Re: How many Andromedas have been produced thus far?
I think there were a little over 100,000 DX7s that were produced. The last I had heard the M1, DX7, and D50 were the synths produced in the greatest numbers.obsidious wrote:50,000 DX7s(IIRC), etc...

Re: new vintage preset please
You could get a Roland JV/XP synth and add the SR-JV80-04 Vintage Synths card. It has the same sounds as the MVS1 minus the rhythm sounds IIRC.

Re: DSI MoPho
The demos sound good guys! The MoPho has grown on me after my going through the presets a second and third time. The alpha-numeric display is a welcome upgrade from the Evolver and the basses with the sub-oscillators sound pretty solid to me. I agree with what others have said about the amount of kn...

Re: DSI MoPho
So, what is the "PUSH IT!" button for? To trigger a note. According to manual this can be set to whatever you want: C, D, E, etc... Supposedly it's for hearing your sounds while programming on the go or when you don't feel like pulling out a MIDI controller. I think it can also trigger sequences.
