yeah, it kid of sounds like he picked off the hit list of cheesy FM sounds to create the backing track... the movie looks dark as h**l, too bad the music doesn't fit! The thought of using one synth + drum machine to do a soundtrack is pretty cool tho. The sounds do fit IMO - typical DX brittle and ...

Never seen Exterminator II. (But I probably will in future.) I bet it displays the DX7's versatility (even without sampling capabilities). Is it just one filmscore that is 90% DX synths? Are there others like it around? I would think that there were productions done entirely with a DX7 using some o...

If they found a way to make the R3/Radias with the dirtier sound of the M2K or MK series, they'd have a killer combo. If you want something dirty from the R3, why not just program a little dirt in the sound? The amp/drive section is pretty comprehensive and the insert effects offer additional "dirt...

Thanks Micke - I enjoyed that! I definitely recognized the DX sounds and the movie had the look of the movies I remember from when I was a teen-ager.

I think I'll play with my DX200 for a while when I get home tonight. :)

Where can I find this Oasis? :P

The R3 has the low-aliasing oscillators of the Oasis (for its analog style oscillators) so they probably do sound quite a bit different than those on the MicroKorg. A nice feature that came through intact from the Radias is the formant motion memory where you can record 7.5 second vocoded phrases an...

I'm making a mental note to never audition the MicroKorg or MS2000 because I love the sound of my R3 and don't want to risk ruining that.

The $200 rebate was enough to make me decide to buy the R3. Although I just got it Wednesday, I couldn't be happier with it!

I am interested in getting a novation synth again. I used to have the A station but sold it because I didn't like the interface with the cluttered knobs. I did like the sound of that synth however. So, here's my question: How does the KS series compare with the Novas/Supernovas? aL I have an A-Stat...

IMO the Vintage Pro ROM is definitely one of the worthwhile ROMS for the P2K synths both in terms of samples and presets. I would be even more enthusiastic about it if only E-Mu had done a better job on a few of the multi-samples. Some of the best/most useful instrument samples have at least one pla...

I've heard the D-50's presets described in many ways but never before as being particularly mix cutting. :)

OK, this thread began innocently enough but I know threads like this often go downhill. There have been good points made on both sides of the argument but please, no personal attacks.

With the latest A-Station OS update, the A-Station and K-Station are functionally identical AFAIK. The A-Station was my first synth. I'm pretty familiar with it and I know they can be had for less than $150 these days but if you are considering an A-Station then my advice is to check out a Xiosynth...
