On the other hand, the 101 sequencer does just that as well (rests, ties) if you use it as it was intended originally - i.e., with a steady clock instead of irregular triggers (which is all the fun, of course). That will not work at all. The MSY2 only creates a clock in addition to midi thru and dinsync (and the analogue clock always has the same PPQN as the midi- and dinsync clock outputs, i.e. 24 PPQN if you actually use those - which is annoying). Quick power cycle: the internal batteries were able to store everything for a short time.

Power cycle the next day: too long since it had power for the last time, it depends on the AA batteries for backup. If they're empty, you get a resetted / randomly programmed machine.
