Re: Yamaha Reface

I’m working with Yamaha on a project right now; I can’t say what it is, but it’s pretty crazy. This synthesizer has new technology that’s never been implemented before, so it’s totally alien to anything I’ve ever used. I’ve had to spend a few weeks just understanding the architecture of it. See her...

Re: can the roland mc202 do this sound? (101 inside)

Yes I'd say you can do that on a 202. It's all about the envelope and LFO settings, he makes clever use of the latter in that example (e.g. at 5:08). He's using the tri waveform on the LFO that the 202 has as well. The reverb (Space) is a big part of the sound as well. The 202 lacks the 101's noise ...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

I thought the only difference would be that if you knocked a pot hard that was surface mounted then it's got something solid to hold it. If it's through hole then it's got a little give and if the knock was hard enough it could be enough to break, rip the board/trace etc etc I dunno though, and I d...

Re: MS-20 legato

This is just how a MS20 behaves, you'll have to adapt your playing style to it. Can be very expressive once you get the hang of it.

Re: Monthly Patching Workout 2015

Sometimes you can really get lost in a patch and spend hours tweaking it. This was one of them. I had it set up for a few days now and jammed it for quite some time before committing to record. Not sure whether it's very cool to listen to but it definitely was a lot of fun to do. It's an FM patch wi...

We had some heated discussions about whether this constitutes "real" PWM or not recently :) See here: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=78799 and here: http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=73410&hilit=jx3p&start=30#p741274 What you need is two oscs w/ pulsewaves...

Re: modular build

My pleasure!

Well, re: "PWM module", you can actually use a comparator and any input source to "synthesize" PWM from any waveform, if you want to. Just modulate its threshold. There are many tricks for waveshaping like this.

As Stabs said, this is modular, you can do anything :thumbleft:

Re: modular build

Regarding the levels, yeah Eurorack is 5V peak to peak which is louder than the line level standard. There are many input modules that will amplify external sources. I have an Intellijel Audio Interface (for line level) and a Pulplogic Entry Point (for mic and instrument levels) which I both really ...
